2011 BMW M5 named one of 25 Cars Worth Waiting For... well duh!

The 2011 BMW M5 was named in the recent C&D issue as one of 25 Cars Worth Waiting For in 2011-2014. No new details or rumors here, but there is a new rendering, and a neat "Anticipation Level" chart, which the new M5 nearly tops.

I don't agree with their estimates of cost in the USofA for the new M5, no way will it cost near the $100k they are suggesting, my reckoning is closer to $80K tops.

More like 80k base. And I think that is a little low. I am thinking 83ish base. They will drop the price the same way AMG did on the e-class models.

I don't know. The current one is $86k base. Since when do car companies lower prices with the new model (with the exception of the new S4 and I think the base 528i that is coming out in June)

That Buick looks surprisingly awesome. Although I'd probably never find myself at a Buick dealership...lol

i believe the price should be about the same as the E60
This drawing will probably look nothing like it when the M5 actually does come out... they usually never do
And there is anticipation because it's gonna be bad ass. The answer to any performance sedan hands down. Ultra performance, Luxury, and style.

The M5 will be awesome no doubt.

But allow me to say that I am actually pretty excited about the ATS mentioned on that page as well. And in particular, the prospects for an ATS-V.

I was simply doing the sums on what I reckoned the new one will be in the UK and then comparing that price to what the X5M is on both countries, assuming all things like spec would be equal.

I personally don't believe the new M5 will jump in price (UK) by more than £3~4K.

P.S.
Never looked at the Buick, I guess the comments it's getting I should at least have a look now.

P.S.2
Just looked at the Buick (aka Vauxhall/Opal Insignia), yeah it's a nice enough car but it's not of the standard set by either Audi, BMW or Mercedes.

theres a thundercloud that forms over my head every time i think about what the new 3 series might turn out like... I have a feeling im gonna have to hold onto an LCI E90.... im scared.... god i miss bangle the new M5 may be tight, but Bangle would have made it a moving monster. I just dont feel like the car has evolved to a new 5 series, but its moved towards a 7 instead.... its just me i guess.

and i would say the new M5 will go for 83-84. BMW's already adjusting the leasing programs to compensate for 2011....

Admin edit: Make sure to read the full story over @Jalopnik ( http://jalopnik.com/5527126/how-car-...e-artists-work ) or on Jon's blog ( http://jonsibal.com/blog/2010/04/ripped-off-again/ )

I just sent an email to Car&Driver as the important parts of the F10 M5 rendering were actually lifted off from my original rendering I did for M5Board back in Dec. '09

At first I thought it just looked similar but after a closer look, I found out that the marks we left in the bumper areas were also present in the C&D renderings. In addition, the side vents/gills is identical as well as the side view mirror. The base car they use is different but to make the job easier, they just copy and pasted the bumper and other parts and submitted it to C&D without full disclosure of where he got those parts from.

Here is an image comparing my original work vs the one published in C&D (flipped horizontally for ease of comparison).

The details in these areas can only be there if someone had copy and pasted it. If he had airbrushed it and designed it himself, it's impossible for those markings to be there.

Just waiting to hear from them C&D now.

Can't wait to see what the real M5 will look like. But in the real world, the 2012 3 series and that Caddy are very kewl. If the CTS is 5-series size for 3-series $$, I wonder how much GM can undercut the price of the 3 series with that newer car?

Yep I know what you mean. As a digital artist like yourself, I'm sure you can understand my frustration. I posted a more in dept post in my BLOG about it.

By the way, keep up the great work on your renders. The F10 M5 is my favorite with the 6 series based on the grand coupe is a close second.

I don't think it would be a bad idea to seek some legal advice. I'm an attorney, but not a copyright lawyer, so I am not familiar with all the regulations on this. But, they basically used your design (without permission) and put it on their front cover to profit from it.

I think that's a no no. You should be paid for your work! Good luck.

Jon - you do great work. I'm sorry to see that others are attempting to profit from it.

Good luck with C&D.

Hey thanks for the support guys. Much appreciated.

I was just talking about this whole thing with one of my client and he's like "Oh I bought that Car&Driver issue because of that M5 rendering"

Still haven't heard from C&D but I'm not gonna hold my breath... life goes on.
