Help: Solution for shopping cart sratch?
I need some advice.. I think someone hit my car with a shopping cart.. The scratch isn't too deep but I can tell the clearcoat has been damaged. Should I take it to a body shop/ detailer or get one of those DIY scratch-fix products, or even try an attempt to buff it out myself with an orbiter (note: I have no experience with an orbiter).
---EDIT--- Pictures are up 1. Picture of both scratches 2. Picture of the second scratch 3. Close up of the second scratch... Last edited by asdflkijd; 04-23-2010 at 07:34 PM.. |

Can you get your fingernail into it? If so, then it is not just the clearcoat. How big? Pictures help a lot.

Definitely post up a picture. It's really tough to give advice on something like this without seeing the damage.

I don't think I can put my fingernail in it, but I can definitely feel an indent where the scratch was made. I tried to take pictures with my phone but it came out really really crappy. I'll try and get a decent picture up with my slr.

Where is the mandatory picture ?
PS: There is BMW touch-up paint kit available. The kit has separate paint and clear-coat containers. You may need to apply some clear-coat and then polish everything. I think it's fixable.

I have leftover touch-up paint from the body shop when they painted my mtech. I would just need to find a good clearcoat.. Do you know if BMW sells the clearcoat separately?

Looks like an impact. Something that flexed the bumper and those all appear to be hairline cracks in your clear coat. Those will require a respray.
