hardness of clearcoat?
Hi All,
I have an 06 325i with Sapphire Metalic Black paint, and was curious how hard the clearcoat was. I typically hear that nearly all e90/e92 are all hard, saving the Jet Black, but Ive also read that there are others that are soft. Im intersted in purchasing some Menzerna polishes, but it looks like there are specific versions for the harder ceramic clears and others for softer standard clears. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks! Ron |

BMW's don't have ceramic clears (they are all "standard" clears), but your BSM is relatively hard compared to something like JB. What's the condition of your paint? For light correction, you might want some PO203S possibly followed up with PO106FA. If you're dealing with moderate/heavy swirls and RIDS, you'll probably want some PO83 (SIP) followed by a lighter polish like PO106FA. Pad selection is important too.

Its a daily driver that logs 100+ miles a day, and hasnt been polished in a couple of years. Sits outside most of the winter too...so suffice it to say that its not in best condition, but Ive sure seen worse.
I have some new orange, white, and black LC CCS pads that I will be using with a Flex 3401. I have some virgin 205/105 bottles in the garage, as well as the old purple label Menzerna stuff from CMA, but its a few years old and was considering purchasing the new stuff from Menzerna if its truely better than the stuff I currently have. Thanks for the help! |

go with the 105 orange and follow up with 205 white on a test panel. taht should work. if it doesnt you may need to order a more aggresive pad/polish combo but what you have should work

+1, that should do the trick. At the very least, it will make a huge difference.
