This is how my garage looked this morning...

Hey everyone, I dropped my car off yesterday at Mercedes and since I was tired of constantly getting a C-class, I asked for something different and this is what I got for two days (returned it this afternoon) Drives like crap but it's cute, great to park and only cost me CDN$4.50 in diesel for 150km of driving. Also people tend to point and smile so if it makes them happy in the process, heck why not.

Nothing new for the European or Canadian members on this board, but I thought the Americans here might get a kick out of this... 40.2 horses in all it's 799cc glory

Edit: Almost forgot, it even has Continental winter tires mounted in a staggered setup

Thanks for the post

I had never seen the engine in one these before. Saw plenty of them in Italy this past summer though... both the ForTwo and ForFour (now discontinued, I believe).

I wonder how they will go over down here once Penske starts bringing them in. Probably will be popular in in California and may be NYC.

Saw them while I was in Germany, funny but economical car. They even have a roadster model that looked pretty cool.

Well the new replacement model will have 71 horses, vs the present 40.2 so it might actually be quite capable. The 0-60mph time on the present model is slightly north of 20 seconds.

I calculated roughly that a trip from Toronto to Vancouver would cost about $140 in diesel...but it would probably take twice as long due to the 135km/h limit top speed (that is, downhill, with a tailwind, on a good day, with no luggage and maybe a 90lb driver)

Check out the Brabus version, 101 horsepower, 0-60mph in 11 seconds... awesome!

Can get it with quad exhaust tips, 17" wheels, the navigation system from an S-Class with DVD player and TV tuner, electronic stability program, full leather and alcantara, all the goodies, but for around 40,000 Euros thats wild.

It looks fun and different; though the interior is

Do you honestly need PDC on a car that's 8 feet long?

It's not PDC, although it IS available. I don't know what those plugs are...I have a feeling they hold the bumper cover onto the car.

You're pretty close about the length though, it's 8.2 feet to be precise.

I like the floor mounted gas pedal and that cup holder looks like it can fit a 2 liter bottle.

I am assuming you will stop asking for "something different" from the dealership next time

BTW did you flip it ? I heard its the thing to do in Europe.

I drove one a few years ago... The gearbox was total rubbish... It was one of the 1st breed, don't know if they enhanced it.

Now, this is a serious Smart : http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...9&q=smart+gsxr

Haha yeah, maybe I'll try a B-Class next time if it's not snowing, otherwise I'll ask for a C280 4Matic or something. Flip it? It was tempting but they'd kill me if I brought it back with the roofline sitting a little lower (provided I don't kill myself first)

Wow, nice! 1000cc is the same as the Brabus swap, seems fairly inexpensive to do from a personal standpoint and what a difference! About the gearbox, it still sucks, shifts take a couple seconds that I could time with my watch, and its necessary to make alot of them as 1st gear for example redlines at 25km/h. A true manual with a clutch would be a huge improvement.

I've recently seen 2 of these in the U.S. with regular license plates. There must be some way to import them.

Stunningly short the first time you see one.
