Review of M3 Sport Steering wheel from bmwsteeringwheels.com

Originally poster here:http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=350705&page=2

I received my M3 Sport Steering wheel for auto a few weeks back and got the Dr.Phuonger to install it.

The M3 Sport Steering wheel is essentially an OEM Sport steering that has been refurbished using OEM material, in this case, the leather and stitching from from the regular M3 steering. This is the reason why the M3 Sport wheel can fit regular paddles without any major retrofitting or jury rigging.

The leather is very nice and the thickness of the wheel is significantly more hefty than the regular sport wheel unless you have smaller hands. Unlike the rather hard leather used in the original, the leather used in this wheel feels much nicer and softer. The tri-color stitching is first rate and of high quality and if you like the general feel of the sport wheel, this wheel's new thicker and softer leather is well worth the price.

The installation is a mixed-bag. Since this is a refurbished wheel, unlike buying a brand new wheel, you will need to remove the air bag bracket and grounding wires to reuse it on this wheel. If you're upgrading from a none-sport wheel, this is not too much of an issue since you'll need to buy the trim, multi-function buttons, airbag and bracket anyway. If you are attempting to upgrade from a sport, this will require more work and more time otherwise the swap is the same as buying anything OEM from tischer.

In my case, attempting to remove the grounding wire from my OEM wheel was a major b-tch for phuong. For some reason none of his hex screw heads would fit the damn OEM screw and he had to jury-rig together a solution that took way more time than a simple swap.

In all, I really like the M3 Sport wheel. It feels great, looks great and seems of good quality.

PS: Didn't bother to post pictures. None of the ones I took came out all that great and the pics that is posted on the BMW Steering Wheel thread is better.

I looked into BMWsteeringwheels.com they had a nice full alcantara wheel. Ended up going with the perf wheel from tischer. It was a bit less and a way better wheel IMO
