WHEELS With Rivets - Calling all Professionals!
Hey Guys,
I started a different thread about how to clean/touch up blemishes on my DPE R16's that were just recently purchased. Up came the details of cleaning the wheels and I started asking how people with rivets in their wheels manage to clean inside and behind them without going through a 500ct box of q-tips and a few broken knuckles. I searched and didn't find a thread devoted to those of us with wheels that have rivets so I decided it couldn't hurt to start one of my own So here we go...please let me know what you use for the following: 1. Tools / Brushes 2. Solvents / Chemicals 3. Technique And finally, let's see some pictures! Here are my 19" DPE R16's that will be in the mail on their way to me tomorrow! |

Yep, good information above. I'd recommend the following to get started:
Top it off with your tire dressing of choice and you're good to go. I like OPT Tire Gel and Stoner's More Shine (available at OTC at any autoparts store).

I would get chemical guys sticky wheel gel over the other cleaners...I used it for the first time yesterday and LOVED the stuff! worked just as good, if not better than p21s!
get some of that and a small brush of whatever kind and agitate and work it around...no need for Qtips! Just did it yesterday on a set of bmw wheels on a stock 5series...worked like a charm! |

The swissvax looks like a very fine and soft brush...if this is accurate, wouldn't it work more like a duster than a "brush"? Or is the idea to get the wheels as clean as possible with something like chemical guys sticky wheel cleaner or P21s and after that use the fine swissvax brush to keep em clean?
Thanks for all your help all! |

The Swissvax wheel brush is capable of agitating enough to get the wheels clean. Use it with your cleaner of choice, agitate, then rinse.
