Need advice on garage lighting

hi everyone,

i'm in the process of renovating my garage, so i can actually fit two cars in the garage instead of one (it's a 2-car garage, but had a pool table on one side). i also want ample space to work on the cars.

anyways, the garage currently has 2 incandescent bulbs, but i'm considering upgrading to 4 of the 4' flourescent shoplights(each one holds 2 T8 32watt bulbs). I'm hoping someone can chime in and tell me if this will provide a good amount of light, if it will be overkill, or if i should consider something else.

here are the approx dimensions of the garage:

20'x25'x9.5' (l,w,h respectively)

thanks in advance...

Yes, your set up is exactly what I have and it's pretty bright.

That'll be plenty bright. That's about what I'm going to put in my 3 car garage with 14' ceilings.

That should be perfect. I have my basement lit with them and they provide plenty of light.

Other suggestion would be to put outlets on the ceiling and get those pull down extension cords for tools, lights, etc. They make life much easier.

get the 6500 k bulbs...also...consider going to a electrical contractor supply store and see if they have T5 as T8 is going to be phased out (just like T12)
