New E-92 Suddenly losing backend a bit

Hi - got my new 335i step on Wednesday. Have put about 200 miles on it so far. For most of the driving so far, the weather has been 60-70 degrees. So tonight its about 45 and I go to dinner with a friend. Park the car (away from anyone else), take about 1.5 hours for dinner.

Get back in the car after dinner, drive about 1/2 mile, look at the engine temp and its still warm (210 degrees). Start driving moderately aggressively for me (not quite as aggressive as most of you would label " moderately aggressive"), and on a few turns where I push a little (i.e., get to 3,000-3,500 RPMS) i feel the backend come around a fair bit looser than it was when i was driving similarly before. Wasn't wet outside (hadn't been raining at all). I was not in sport mode and did not have the DTC turned off.

Was this because the tires were cold? If not what could it be? Possible I had been through a puddle in the parking lot without realizing it, but would it have that much effect, and continuously for the 5-6 miles it took me to get home?

On a side note, it made my drive more cautiously, which is a good thing because I watched someone ahead of me get pulled over by a cop. Hate to wish bad things on other people, but....

The tires still may have been cold, but Mr. Bond, you have to ease in to that corner.

Now you know that when you are experiencing understeer in the future, you can correct it with the accelerator. Your car looks great, by the way.

Off Topic: Something may be wrong with my eyes, but in the background of the second picture, there are two e90's in different shades of red. Do you happen to know what's the name of the 335i red?

My car does the same......when its in cold weather it doesnt perform as well.....

could be the way you took the turn, causethis car has alot of torque

Your tires are still breaking in and will feel a bit "greasy."

the composit on some tires needs to warm up more, if its too cold they get hard and have little traction, this happened to me in an S4 with sport tires

Looks like a 335i in Crimsom Red along side a 325 in the old Electric Red which Crimsom replaced.

Gotta seat those piston rings........ Drive it like you stole it.
I broke in one car 'easy' and it burned oil like you wouldn't believe.
Every car since then, has been riden hard from the get go.... no issues what so ever.
I'm talking 2 days at Willow Springs with less than 1K on my B6 S4 ...........

Burn the coating off the tires and enjoy that baby of yours !!!!!

over the weekend.. i put my 335 on with the snow tire.. here in MA, i am not getting much traction from the sport tires any more.. the morning are like 29 degree.. those tire don't have much traction on cold temp...

I think he meant the tires dont perform as well, not the car...

With all that torque, you will have it hop a bit before the computer kicks in. It won't let you loose control though. Also you have to break the tires in as well as the engine. Check your manual.

I could go into another break-in debate that's been had thousands of times on every vehicles forums, but take it somewhat easy with brief high RPM bursts the first 2-400 hundred, making sure you heat cycle it as many times as possible with at least 10 heat cycles, change the oil/filter to get rid of metallic micro-particles, then build up a few longer high RPM seatings runs. Sustained heat is the enemy very early, then getting the piston rings to seat before they glaze is the goal.

Looks like the same color, but one is in the shadow, and the other one in the direct sunlight.
