Shelby Cobra Replica Turn Key

hey guys,

I might be in the market for a weekend car.
I was thinking either a Lotus Elise S/Exige or a Shelby Cobra turn key.

I still have to check with customs on how much it would cost to plate it here, but let's assume the same.

Does anyone know of a good Shelby/AC Cobra turn key replica maker? UK or US makes no difference.

Lone Star is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. Had an acquaintance with one of those in SD who wrecked it when he was drunk.

Superformance.

I like their Daytona Coupe.

But I think they're really expensive.

I think they don't list them because they'd rather present them to you along with a personal explanation of why the prices are justified. They've got to sell you on the prices, so-to-speak. I think they're the only ones that are certified authentic replicas or whatever.

Superformance and Factory Five are really good companies for sure.

I think most companies have recommended builders if you want a turnkey car rather than build it yourself. Ask them.

+1

Superformance blows everything away. My dad's owned two Cobras, a Factory Five and a Superformance. The Factory Five did the job, but if you want a real kick ass car, the Superformace is the way to go. But it is much more expensive than other options. You can always get one that's mildly used.

This attachment should give you an idea, but it doesn't list motor/tranny.

I have a friend who built the Factory-5 Cobra kit a few years ago. He did everything but the bodywork (the body is pretty raw in the kit). He took the body to a place in Pennsylvania that did turn key cars to have them finish and paint the body. I'll get the info if you want.

I would really go for the Exige. It really is the polar opposite of the Shelby replica when it comes to poise and balance and wouldn't there always be a thought at the back of your head that this is a replica?

When would you have time for thoughts like that when you'd be thinking about what a kickass and beautiful car you're driving around?

Cobra for sure!
