NEVER drink and drive.
i'll be the first one to admit i've done my fair share of drunk driving, but i just lost a good friend last night to it and it's a huge reality check. i haven't driven after drinking in months, but now, i never will again. i have never lost anyone this close to me in a drunk driving accident, but this is a giant wake up call. it's a shame that peoples' lives have to be lost before people realize the consequences of drinking and driving, as this is the case a lot of the time. thankfully, no one else was hurt, but it's still like getting a bath in icy cold water when it hits so close to home.
rest in peace, good buddy. |

Sorry to hear that.
I'm sure many of us are here today thanks to pure dumb luck. I certainly am.

thanks for the support everyone.
meh, that's like pissing in the wind. even though i know that everyone i'm mutual friends with will probably learn a hard lesson from it, unfortunately not everyone will follow through. another unfortunate statistic is this probably won't be the last friend i'll bury to drinking and driving, but the best i can do in memoriam is to not do it myself. |

Sorry to hear about your loss.
Some people will never learn unless something drastic happen to them. It's just the way it is. There's no use to try changing them. For me, going to Medical School at a Level 1 Trauma Center (Boston Medical Center) and then working at another Level 1 Trauma Center (Harborview Medical Center), is an eye opener for me. I don't drink by default, but after seeing all these horrific accidents, I made certain that I won't drink under any circumstances. And for the ones that like watching YouTube: [u2b]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Z2mf8DtWWd8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Z2mf8DtWWd8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/u2b]

I'm sorry for your loss. I've never lost a friend to drunk driving but I did lose a good friend who drank after he took his Adderall that evening. I've since sworn off alcohol.

OP, sorry for your loss. Please stay true to your promise not to drive drunk again. Whenever someone I know dies from alcohol/drugs, everyone posts on their facebook that they've sworn off the behavior that killed that particular person, but a week later they've all broken their promises.
Best wishes, Dan

Sorry to hear such a tragic story blake, i have never lost a friend to a car accident, but i do remember as a child when my dad used to be a complete dumbass and drive drunk when me and my brother were in the car. Now i realize how many times my life could have ended short because of one irresponsible person. (i don't talk to my dad anymore) .
May your friend rest in piece ! |
