A lot of magazines claim the 335i coupe has a 0-60 time of 4.8 and bmw claims 5.3. Can the same be applied for the 328i, because i personally think it is faster than what bmw claims it is. 328i coupe 0-60 6.2

Off-topic, but BMW Canada claims the 328i coupe does 0-100km/h in 6.6 seconds, does it really take 0.4 additional seconds to cover 2.14mph which is in the difference?
As for the BMW claimed time, it probably is quite conservative, they seem to have a habit of doing that.

Most car manufactures just run more "real world" numbers than car magazines. Magazines are just saying that the car is capable of making 4.8 sec with good shifting (considering if its a manual) and ideal conditions. So if your just the average guy thats not the best shifter in the world that youll prob. average around 5.3 sec 0-60 in manual transmision. But I know that ive read somewhere that some people getting 4.8's 0-60 and 13.4 sec 1/4 mile with auto.
Refering to the 335i. |

0-60mph vs. 0-100kph depends on a few things. For a 335, I would guess the difference to be about .2 sec. It gets 0-70mph in about 6 secs, so it's taking a second to go from 60-70. 100 kph = 62.14 mph, or about 2/10s of that second. If you shift at 60 or 61 mph, the dif will be longer. A slower accelerating car will also take correspondingly longer.

You can expect real world times to be a little better - Car an Driver has clocked the 0-60 time for the outgoing 325 sedan in 6.1 seconds. Otherwise these test times change according to weather conditions, manufacturing tolerances, etc. However, the variability (for good or for bad) of the turbo engine is greater than the NA engine.

The Dealer gave a 328 auto loaner while my 335 went in for window tint. Well I was impressed, along with some of my co-workers. It really comes alive when you kick in the passing gear.
