Any chance diesel 3er in US
Gas prices wont be coming down anymore and with every other car manufacture making hybrid, do you think bmw might think of about bringing there diesel engines to US. I have heard that they are pretty fast for diesel and are able to match up the performance with gasoline. Dunno about the reliability.
Does anybody have any idea if bmw plans on getting them here??? |

There are lots of rumours about BMW planning to launch diesels in North America in 2007, but as far as I can tell nothing is yet confirmed.
I had the pleasure of renting an E90 320d (steptronic) for several days in the UK. Much of the focus in diesel discussions is on the 330d and 335d, but the 320d is truly great as well. I averaged about 47 mpg and found the performance more than acceptable (much better in-gear performance than my E46 325i). It revs freely and the torque curve is not nearly as narrow as most diesels. I'd buy one in a second if they would sell it in Canada. |

According to a recent interview with a BMW type (sorry but I am blanking out as to where I got it from), the first diesels will be introduced in the 5 series, likely in 2008.
Of course this makes little sense to me since I think the x3 and x5 are better candidates to start the ball rolling. |
