Need some Advice or convincing - e93 or slk350
hey all, currently im driving 01 330 ci and its the time to upgrade.i was happy when the e92 was comming out. i was even happier when i saw it was a twin turbo. im a turbo guy btw, i use to own a turbo eclipse and love the performance on it. but dam i hate the back of the e92. i even went to look at it in real life and i still cant grow on it. no doubt i love the front and the interior.so i have 2 choices, either slk-350 or E93(h-t vert), seats doesnt matter to me, basicly its down to slk with no turbo and no room to E93 with turbo and roomier but ugly tail.guys i dont know which one to pick, i really want the e93 but i cant stand the taillight, thanks

oh yea forgot to mention the price, im guessing E93 going to be 45k plus navi and pre will probably come out to 50k, and slk-350 with all the pack i want is 60k, so 10 k different but prices really dont matter if im gonna stay with the car for a long time

Definetly the SLK 350. Yup Much faster.
E93-around est. 5.6 SLK-around 5.3 Although the BMW can sit 4 people i dont think anyone would want to cram in that little seat. Just my opinion. Be sure to get AMG Package. If ur gonna spend 60k on a SLK might as well wait for the e93 M3 with a carbon fiber folding top(but ur not gonna have any options)58k base |

I'd go for the E93. It's better value for money and as a new model it attracts more attention. Besides SLK is in my opinion a girl's car (all SLK owners i know are girls) and the only SLK i would get for myself is SLK55 AMG, which is much more expensive and should, in fact, compete with the M3.
I really like SLK55 AMG, but, again, if i would have to choose between it and the E93 M3, I would definitely choose the M3. Big fan of BMW and damn, that M3 engine is going to be soooo amazing!

the acceleration for slk350 is 5.5s, so almost the same as 335i. But bearing in mind that slk hasn't got 2 turbos, i would imagine that the overall performance would be lower than 335i
j_way3494 - nice merc that you've got!

After doing a couple google searches the 335i is definately faster.
0-60 in 4.8, car and driver, and 4.9, automobile magazine. Faster quarter mile times and around the nurberding in germany as well. It will be much cheaper to mod as well. For 3k with shiv vishnu's piggyback plus exhaust is does 0-60 in 4.2. To me it;s a no brainer. I would prefer the extra room, cones in handy sometimes. |

If you care anything about handling... stay with the BMW. All the MBs i have driven didnt handle all that well. Including the SL65 AMG.

i have to agree with the people say performance on e93, im a turbo guy and would love a turbo car, but for looks, i have to go with slk unless somehow i can make the e93 tail look better. the pic of slk is kleeman kit with brabus rims. as for room, i would love more room and be more comfortable in a car, but i dont have kids so i dont really need back seats. Right now im learning towards E93 more because Slk been out for a couple years now and i dont want to buy a car than a new model come out and regret it , kinda like the 330 here than the 335 came out. the only thing that i would not get E93 because of the taillight. so thats y i need some advice. i want to get a car and be happy with it for a while. thanks for all ur input.

SLK-
If you need convincing to purchase the E93, you should look elsewhere. It's clearly not the car for you if you can't stand the look of the rear (or taillight) of the Coupe. Either buy the E93 and only look at it from the front, or buy the SLK Seems like the answer is pretty clear. |

I'd get the SLK. It is a much nicer looking car than its predecessor and it will probably prove to be less common than the E93. I mean it is a bit slower, but is a true 2 seat roadster. I don't have specs handy at the moment, but I think the SLK is a bit smaller too, length wise.
SLK may be a bit more of a girls car, but be honest, do you guys see more men or women driving 3 Series Cabrios? Where I live its women. Guys drive sedans and coupes more. |
