06 323 engine (174hp) vs 07 323 engine (200hp)
Well, I am 3 months in to my lease of my 06 323i which has 174hp/170tq. Don't get me wrong I love it even though it is slow, but thats why I have my bike.
I was looking through the BMW Canada website and I see the new 2007 323 has 200hp/180tq!! The displacement stayed the same. Maybe it is mostly different fuel mapping? Considering that the 323/325/328 is pretty much the same engine, displacement wise. Perhaps the new 323 has more aggresive cams, different manifold, or some other stuff. Anyone know any place to find out the technical specs of the engines? More specifically I am looking for the engine code name (such as the e46 M3 is S54), as well as displacement. The BMW website has no such info. Any help on this will be great. -Pearson

Still puts me in the smae place just a litte more info. I know a few techs at BMW Gallery, so I will see if I can get a re-flash on my ecu in hopes of gaining some hp.

The 323i is a fully sweet ride, but hey, if there is free power available from BMW than I am all over that. It's hilarious, man, we are practially the same in terms of vehicles.... E90 323i ZSP, ZPP 6MT and 2005 Yamaha R6.... what do you ride? |

Picked up our E91 323i here in Australia yesterday. Love the car I too had hoped that our vehicle which was built in Munich in early September would have the same 200hp 323i engine as now going to the sedan in Canada.
Unfortunately no luck we did not get the engine upgrade. I thought maybee we had done it when I looked in the window and saw the car had the new 2007 chrome bezel on the radio buttons and the matching chrome instert in the sports wheel (looks same as the coupe) but sadly no engine upgrade when I pulled out the owners handbook and checked. Is there anyway to confirm by looking at the engine? Asked one of the guys in servicing but he had no idea! |

Euro 323i hasnt changed
Canadian one changed because the 328i replaced the 325i and this created a power gap

On taking a look at the pictures shown here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N52 of the N52B25 mine looks like the N52B30 picture. Is there an identification plate or something I can look at to confirm what I have? Sorry if this is a stupid question for those of you who understand these things. As you can see from my earlier post I had reasons to wonder because of some other changes made and the production date. Rather rare vehicle too in this part of the world, only a handful of E91 323i Tourings here in Australia. Could not even see our model listed in the main handbook that came with the car, then found a small supplemental specs booklet (with a proviso that it was only a guide and specs could change without notice). |

The 2.5 looks just like the 3.0. There is a identification plate on the engine, but its imposible to see without removing parts out the engine bay
Your E91 will have the normal Euro 323i engine
