First ride in a Ferrari - Scuderia!

I met up with a bunch of Ferrari, Porsche and Lotus guys at Karosserie near King of Prussia yesterday. I was talking with one of the employees about the Ferrari's and I told him that I've never even had a ride in a Ferrari. He was like "We can change that." There were two Scuderia's there yesterday, but one was brand new. So, he asked the other guy (seen in the pic below) if I could go for a ride.

WOW! What a special sound, feel, experience. If feels so solid, very tight, VERY light weight and when he really got on it and pulled the paddle back to up shift, it felt like I was being kicked in the back. Once the exhaust goes into bypass mode, the entire car sounds so sweet! The bucket seats are superb for holding you in place and all the interior pieces were either Alcantara, aluminum or carbon fiber. It was perfection!!!

All the guys were super nice (I just have a 330i for crying out loud) and they were treating me like one of their own. One guy is from the UK and he has a '73 RS, two of his buddies have CGT with one being stored at the 'Ring and modified by Mathey Racing.

Nice. From the looks of the mats in the interior, they actually drive their Ferrari around a bit too.

Found a couple youtube videos to get a taste of the sound:

--skip to the 1:00 minute mark:

--if you have more time to watch a nice in car review, where they drive it at Fiorano as well as the street:

It wasn't really a big meet. "Only" two Scuds, 550 Maranello, S4S, 993 and Caymen. Karosserie just invited some of their customers to see some of the work they are doing. You can see them from the PA TP between KOP and Plymouth Meeting on the right side heading East.
They do all kinds of custom one-off aluminum work for any car (Ferrari and Audi A8 in particular). There was a custom 612 Scaglietti that Ferrari did for this guy there to be repainted, custom hood made and then retired to his collection. They just finished painting a Daytona Spider (converted from a coupe of course a long time ago).

a few months ago I spent a good deal of time (about 200 miles) behind the wheel of a 599GTB Fiorano. Ill be honest - it makes the BMW (even my M6) feel tame and lethargic. The steering is the killer - its light but at the same time you feel every single thing on the road - essentially its perfect. The sound, acceleration, grip.....

There really is nothing on the road quite like a ferrari in my opinion.
