What I would change about the E92's exterior...

Though I think the E92 is a gorgeous car, I feel it has lost some of the agressive proportions that were prominent in the E36 and E46. I have made this photoshop, which includes many subtle changes to the proportion and line of the car to put it more in line with previous generations. The main two changes I have made is a shorter overhang in the front and a boxier more elevated rear end, both of which are indicative of previous generations. Let me know what you guys think.. or yell at me for butchering a good design :P

EDIT: I like the Prelude look ... not!

I liked the prelude, 8 years ago when it came out; after a two got tired of it & it looked so flat.

I liked the E46 Coupe when it came out 8 years ago; I still like it today!

Although you do have very good PhotoShop skills; I would say to most ... Look at the pictures of the E92 below & think.

Do you really want to change it (today)?

I only like what you did to the rear, i wish it had a little lip like that... the rest of the car looks better unchanged IMHO

i like the honda prelude.

I like your photoshop! i too wish they would do away with the shark fin design forever! i notice you gave it more headroom, or rather, made it less stretched and more traditional/boxy. also the hood looks longer relative to car giving it a 2door roadster look. i like it a lot.

but realize u could just take a picture of the e92 at slight angles that will make look different.

many people may flame u for ur edit, show them the pic without explaining any of the edits though, i doubt they would pick ip the differences

Good job, I don't really like it, but I have to respect you since I couldn't have done it! I hate the roof line, you can't see the rear window, the car looks less sporty, and more asian, and you forgot the shark fin, which I i like on the car!

Good work though!

I like your changes, although it wouldn't look like the next generation I suppose.

the door line where the door opens out the side should meet the rocker panel below, not have a break line ABOVE the rocker panel like it is now. I think it looks so disjoint that way. There's 3 horizontal lines on the bottom of the car, side view. It should have 2 lines or maybe even 1. If it's gonna be two lines, they should be further apart. I think that'd help remove the japanese car look it has right now...

That's too funny you guys! When looking at the picture, all I could think about was how it had the EXACT same proportions and lines as a Honda Prelude. Then I scroll down and everyone is saying the exact same thing.

I may be a little jaded but I've always drooled over the lines of the Prelude. Now if they could stick a 6 cylinder under the hood and make it rear wheel drive...now that would have been the car of my dreams. The lack of power and front wheel drive is exactly why I'm upgrading to the E92 335.

your photoshop makes the car look a bit weird. If you look at the roof and the middle portion of the car, they dont blend very well with the rear and the front ends. Sorry but that's a no go in my book.

The top one is undedited, it is straight from BMWUSA.com... that is how the door looks, I didn't touch anything except the bumpers, roof line, and wheel size.

actually i think only u and i thought i looked like a prelude. i think the others meant they liked the original better.

either way, i agree with your statement about the prelude with 6 cyl and rwd.

when i first saw the prelude when i was in highschool i wanted taht car so bad. in pearl white

I love your PS it definitely looks way more masculine.

I would allow for a sleeker roofline, then delete the sunroof to those who would complain over the headroom.

That would be a car that actually looks like the ultimate driving machine.

In darker colors the 335 looks great.

When they get lighter, it's still gorgeous but a tad bit girly.

Thanks for the imput guys, and for the compliments on my photoshop skills. I'm a graphic designer so I guess you could say it's my job. I do wish graphic designers made a little more money though, I'm still driving my e36, slowly accumulating enough to afford an e92.

Isn't that the truth. My degree's in graphic design/advertising and I've worked as a designer before... the pay sucks. Thankfully my current job is more involved with marketing, and therefor the pay's slightly better.

Everyone has their own opinion of what looks good. After seeing the E92 in person, my view hasn't changed. It's aweful from the C pillar back. To much rear overhang, not enough of a wedge shape to the vehicle's profile (the trunk seems to just drop off), and the tail-lights... still can't get used to the tail-lights.

I think the p-chop fixes the lines of the trunk.

I know. Those were my additional suggestions that BMW should have made. I think it would be a bit difficult to implement those changes via PS.

nice job anyway.

Yeah, I wen't to the dealer the day they got their first one in. The car looks much better in person, I agree. Regardless, I think that front overhang is too long. The e90 kept the short overhang from previous generations and looks fantastic! Why the hell is the coupe longer than the sedan?.... I will never understand.
