Under normal circumstances an oem shock/strut should last you 40-50k anything more you prolly will not notice til you can actually feel the rim bouncing up and down like you how you would see some cars on the freeway with 1 dead shock.
If you elect to throw on some lowering springs with a shock@40k youll be wasting labor monies becuase you should be replacing it while its out. |

They could easily go longer but its more of a preventative maintenance item. Sure you can throw the springs on and 10k later youll have premature tire feathering..its your call.

I was thinking about doing the same thing (sport springs) at 30K miles so now I'm having second thoughts...what would the alternative be? I don't really see the need for me buying coils because once I get a good right height, I won't be adjusting at all.

H&R cup kit is what I am leaning towards because its a decent price and a good shock/spring. I also was thinking of doing just springs but I am at 44k now.

I'm buying the springs from my buddy who is going with the KWV3 instead, so I won't be doing any package deals, trying to figure out which shocks to go with!

Your OEM struts will fail after a short period of time with aftermarket springs.. thats why.

I have put lowering springs on many cars including my own with the stock struts, I have never had any issues with them wearing out premature. Like others have said, it all depends on the wear of them prior to the new spring and how hard you are on the car in general. If you have a lot of potholes and bumps around you, you will have a decreased life expectancy of your struts. If you are in an area that is nice and nonbumpy (if you will) you will be fine for quite a while.
