Is your "Puddle" light in the door handle not working?

Hey All:

When I picked up my E92 in Germany, I was wondering, for the longest time, why the Puddle lights were not illuminating. I thought it was busted until one evening, I realized the Interior lighting was switched off (the lights that turn on when you open the door). Once I enabled that, the Puddle lights also activated.

I want them...is there a way to retrofit them onto e90?

E90 has them too. I forget the name but they are not called Puddle lights.

According to http://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/3/335iSedan/features.htm, they call it "Ground-illuminating lights" in door handles.

I wouldn't bother: you can only see tham when it's pitch black. I ordered them on my car, but I don't think anyone else has ever noticed them.

I have had a bunch of people notice them at night...I have to say they look pretty darn cool when you walk up to your car at night after unlocking the doors!
