Louder engine sound?

Is there a way to make the engine sound louder? without putting a hold in the muffler?

There are several options, one you can leave your windows down all the time so the engine will sound much louder, second you can remove all the oil from your car which in short order will make your engine growl much louder and more agressive, 3rd, you can place a microphone in your engine compartment and run it to the auxillary input into your stereo then crank that puppy up and finally, you can of course put a hold on your muffler, I would recommend a half nelson. Then you beat it into submission until it agrees to be louder or else!!!

You mean like they did with the new Jaguars? Actually, they just used a tube... or was it two tin cans and a string?

Just drive around for a week with some Bose noise cancelling headphones on. Then take them off, the engine noise will be noticeably louder

The 335i has a great engine sound. Is there a way to replicate that without buying a 335

Intake.

On a related note, I really miss my previous E46 330i's engine growl. It was much louder and throatier than my current E90 330i.

Make a recording of a 335i's engine revving sound.
Burn it onto a CD.
Play it loud on your car's audio system while you're driving around.

Yea my brother ZHP has a REALLY throaty ENGINE note...my 325 has a airy whine, not very performance oriented...why is that??

If you want to raise the engine sound a little, remove the charcoal filter....under throttle you will notice the gain in sound...and performance:rocks: :rocks:

1. remove your hood.
2. remove your muffler.
3. place your head outside of window while running.

does BMW have cat??
if so, get rid of it. go to muffler shop and tell them to make one custome pipe to replace the cat......
it will improve sound.. and HP maybe? ( i am not sure about BMW tech. )... but quality wise... I wouldn't recommend this one.
but hey, it will be cheaper than buying intake

Money makes your engine louder? Once you have saved up like $3000, visit the marketplace on e90post and buy one of those new muffler. There are cheaper alternatives which others have suggested above.
