I dont know whether this has been covered or not. My oil sensor turned on yesterday for about an hour. It has been off since. I've already made an appointment for an oil change but Im curious as to why it went away...

The indicator was probably just telling you are low on oil. Go in for service anyways and let them check and adjust as necessary.

Have you used the turnstalk to check your oil level?

Depending one the number of miles you have on your car, you may want to have you oil changed anyways. The oil indicator may have been just a minor warning and not something to alarm you.
