E92 funny sound issue.

I just came up on 1200 miles today. I noticed yesterday that while driving in circles up a parking structure looking for a spot, a whistling sound seemed to come one of my wheels, not during braking, but immediately after releasing the brake and accelerating. Then tonight while pulling up to valet at a restaurant, the same whistling sound happened, again after releasing the brakes. The sound does not happen when the engine or brakes are cold. But once warmed up, the sound persists only for a couple seconds after braking, but does so each time and is annoying.

Before I take it in for service, which will obviously deprive me of my car for at least a day, do any of you have an idea of what this could be?

UPDATE: The problem has worsened, and I'm taking it in this Friday so the shop foreman can ride along and verify the problem. I don't know if there is a brake pad sticking, but once the wheels heat up, every time I release the brakes and begin to drive, a wheel squeaks for a good 5 seconds. No sound during braking at all. Sounds like it's coming from the driver's side, but I can't determine front or back.

Being a new model, I wonder if fixing this will be difficult. It's annoying and a little embarrassing when I drive through a parking lost past a Starbucks, brake over a speed bump, and then my car squeaks for 30 feet thereafter.

Sucks, but probably an easy fix.

You might have a small rock stuck somewhere in your caliper. It can cause what you are describing. Try to get a look at it yourself before you take it in if you want to possibly save the hassel.

UPDATE: Today was my appointment to ride with the shop foreman to ascertain the squeaking noise after releasing the brakes once the car has warmed up.

Answer: They had to replace my rear left rotor, at 1,400 miles. The squeaking just started a little over a week ago, and I was careful during break-in period.

Here's what the service order said:

"Left rear rotor out of round .008MM. Removed both rear pads, chamfered and relubed pads, sanded the rotor surface. Noise still there. Test drove vehicle. Noise still present. Removed pads and rotors. Resanded and chamfered pads and rotors. Noise still there. Measured runout on left rear rotor. .008M. Replaced left rear rotor / Everything normal. Work time troubleshooting, 3.5 hours."

Wonder what that would have cost me. Also, I was amazed they even had a rotor in stock! Especially after reading some horror stories on this forum about folks having to leave their cars for many weeks while parts are ordered from Germany. I took it in at 10:00 A.M., went for a drive with the shop foreman to verify the noise, left the car expecting not to hear from them until Monday. But at 6:00 I got the call that my car was ready. And it's a very busy dealership in North Hollywood, CA.

By the way, the loaner I got was a new Chrysler 300, black. My first time driving one. Huge. Could camp IN one. Nothing special, but it wasn't a Hemi either.

Definitely giving the dealership all fives on this one.
