I guide error "ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION"

Vehicle from day 1 (now 15 months old) at highway speeds exhibits indicator of electrical system malfunction, proceed to dealer at highway speeds. Indication last about 10 seconds with yellow triangles between speedo and tach. It has become more regular as of late. every 10 minutes. BMW service cant determine cause.

That is because those suckers on US1 know nothing about the BMW.
Try Orlando or West Palm.

Good Luck!

I'm with BMW of North America, LLC. I've passed this message on to a BMW NA Customer Relations Representative who will be in touch with you soon.

preston...stay on top of that big time! BMW NA will try all they can to resolve the problem but if they can't...then other steps will probably need to be taken.

Is that member really from BMW NA?

Electrical System Malfunction

Hey Preston,

I've been having the same problems with my car where the dealership here in Northern California have not been able to correctly fix or diagnose the "Electrical System Malfunction." They replaced the Instrument Cluster, but the warning light still came on. Then they replaced the Junction Box, but then the warning still came on. It's in the shop right now and I am just confused as to why they cannot figure out the problem.
Have you had any luck with yours? If so, what did they determine was the problem?
Thanks.

Same problem

My car has the same problem, they replaced the battery and now the instrument Cluster. It will really suck if this does not fix the error. Any updates on how to fix it?

I have the same problem with my 2006 330i. It seems to occur when I drive my car not when its sitting. It happens like every 10 seconds and im going crazy. Electrical System Malfunction "GONG" my cluster goes haywire with all sorts of error lights and even sometimes my ABS light comes on and today my transmission malfunction light came on.. I paid BMW for the diagnostics fee and they thought it was my footwell module, so i replaced it. Still comes on. Some people thought it was the battery replaced it still occurs. its frustrating me. I went to alekshop in norcal and he was able to diagnose that it was a K-Can Line error but dont know what that is.

I got this error on the hightway. Driving at 70km/hr since 30 min, got a red battery error in the cluster, accessories like the fan shutdown..after 5-10 sec everything came back as normal.

My car is giving me a full ok condition so I don't know if I should be concerned by this. I'm CPO so this issue should be covered.
You think it's related to the cluster or footwell module?! (I don't have I-Drive)

I called my SA and told me that this could be a one shot deal and don't worry about it.

Anybody else got that issue one time only? (I'm leaving for a long run this Saturday and want to be sure that I don't need to get it verified by the dealer before.
