Early Adopters: Group ED trip for ///M1?
Is anyone else tentatively planning on doing Euro Delivery for the ///M1? Would be pretty rad for a few of us to try to go at the same time. Not sure if it's feasible or realistic, but just a thought...

I had the first E92 delivered in Indiana. I know, not that impressive....but it was still cool--I took delivery in October of 2006. Had people coming up to me all the time--no one knew what it was. And it was just a 328....
But I have always wanted to do ED--this might be the perfect time to start thinking about it....

I think in addition to the fun it would bring to have a mini 1Addicts meet while we're there, I'd like to go with someone who has travel experience in Germany and surrounding areas, so I don't miss anything worth seeing or do anything worth skipping. PS- Hope the US dollar makes a comback between now and then.

Another 1addict took delivery a few days before I did and we met at Oktoberfest. Another bimmerfester took delivery of his 3 touring while I was taking delivery of my 1. I hope this idea pans out for you.

I normally wait for 2nd year production for the bugs to be ironed out, but if many of you are in for a fun trip on M1 caravan, count me in. Especially if one of ya speaking ze doich.

I don't really consider the M1 a "new" model. They M1 won't be "that" radically different from a mfg stand point. |

I'm curious as to what the time lag will be from down payment and order to ready for delivery? That could determine if I would do an ED or not.

Do we know if the M1 will be available for ED? The M3 was originally excluded from the program, until sales softened.

The M3 wasn't excluded from Euro Delivery, it just didn't have the discount that non-M cars have when picked up via ED. When sales softened as you mentioned, the M3 was included on the discount.

We randomly found a great Biergarten just north or Munchen, about 15 min north of Welt. It was one of those locals only type of places and nobody spoke english, best food, and best beer, I had in the week that I was in Munich. I can find the place and post it up here for you guys. |

I would be down for a group ED, with the following observation - I'd like to time it in such a manner as to be able to participate in the 3 day BMW Nurburgring school, which typically takes place the first Mon-Wed of August.
I've long wanted to go to that school, my previous Nurburgring outings have only whetted the appetite for that incredible track. I wasn't able to do it with the M3 due to family obligations, but I could probably make it happen in 2011. A similar thing happened in 2002 - it was named something like the Great 2002 M Euro Delivery group. I believe there were around 10-12 cars in that group... absolutely amazing. |
