Snow Socks
Just been out in the snow with a set of snow socks on.
With the DTC on the car just pulled off as if the snow was not there. They are a proper pain to get on but well worth it. I can now use the car when i want and not when the weather dictates.

Have you tried a short flat piece of wood? You can use the wood to push the sock ove the top of the wheel, the hard bit, and then just use your hands to pull it round the rest of the wheel.

I was looking into these a couple of months because going out in the snow in a rear wheel drive car scares me to death.I don't know if it's the run flats or what but my e46 wasn't too bad in the snow and previous to that my e36 was probably even better.I put two bags of rock salt(for weight mainly),a shovel and some carpet in my boot when we had that really bad spell of snow ,but that only helped a little. Are these snow socks that good?.I watched a video on Youtube on a RWD car and they looked like they did the job.

They are very impressive, but as stated the low clearance between the tyre and arches on our cars make them a pain to fit.
Get a length of wood (I now use 2 dowels), flip the elasticated edge over this and poke over the top of the tyre. A pair of cheap leather gloves then stops you from ripping your hands apart on any exposed screwheads in the areas that you can get at. Also when you take them off they will be wet and soggy, so a plastic box to stuff them into rather than having to fold them up and put back in the bags they come in (which could still leak) is a good idea.
