Moving back to Canada - possible E90 sell questions..

Hi Folks,
I am most probably moving back to CANADA in the next 6 months. A year and half sooner that expected. At that time approx 8 months will be remaining on my lease...I have given BMWFS $3500 for a security deposits

here are my options..

1. Drive the car in CANADA and return it when the lease is up - meaning dont register the car in CANADA and pay for it out of my US account.
2. Have someone take over my lease.
3. Buy the car outright at the end of the lease of before..

Do you think someone will give me back the SD or will I lose that? Do some people do this through swaplease etc? My payment is $509 with wheel and tire insurance.

Your opinions are appreciated..

M.

Wellcome back-tough question. I guess the simplest route is to ride out your lease and drive the car back once it expires. For 8 months this may be the way to go.

I thought you get back the muliple SDs once the lease is up, so you should get them back at the end.

You could always buy the car, but you are likely going to pay too much in the end , as you will be stuck with car payments for another 3-4 years (unless you have the cash outright). On the other hand if you are happy with the car you may choose to keep her for a while longer and then buying it may make sense. But you may not be able to get extended warranty in Canada bcs of the jusrisdictional cross-over......So I say, just ride out your lease and drive her back to VA in 8 months time.

Thx Bimmerista..what I meant is will I have a chance to get back from someone who will take over the lease..meaning have folks had success in getting others to pay the SD they have put down to take over the lease?

I read on bimmerfest that there are getting BMW to recognize the warranty in CAN from a US car is a real issue so not sure about that part...

I'd just ride out the lease if I were you, I rarely hear of people not losing their shirts swapping out of leases. I would think getting them to pay you for the SD would be a major long shot.

No..I moved here for work...miss home too much so I'm going back..plus we want to adopt a child and you have to be a US citizen which will take the 4-6 years to even start we are already 36...there are US versus CAN reasons but I dont want to start that whole debate

when did u come and what made u decide to stay?

there are alot of reason why i became an American citizen, but like you said I don't want to start an USA vs. CAN argument. I will say that I am very proud to be here for the past 20+ years. I will never go back to CAN, can't stand liberals and gun control

One of my past GFs who lives and works here in Ohio, was from Toronto where I was from and she ripped on the US about every day-complete hypocrite, even went to University here. Then one day I told her to STFU and left her

Best wishes on your adoption!

Are you planning to get another BMW in Canada?
Is yes then keep the least, cars here are 10k more expensive, freight pdi is 2k, and sales tax in some provinces is 14%
