I had to use a second set of hands to get my cover off (09 E90). The DIY trick of removing the sunroof gasket or edge material didn't work for me as it seemed to be glued in place. What I ended up doing was pulling the whole assembly towards me and down (away from the front of the vehicle) and having the other person use a small screwdriver to push the tab in. If you look at the rear dome housing you can see their location so person 2 knows where they are trying to aim. Option 2 is take a look at this DIY
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...light=euphoria
and reference the picture where he talks about bulb location. There are arrows pointing to the clips I am referring to.
Good luck with the install

You'll have to go through the sunroof, it's not that difficult:

I pryed the dome light cover off and swapped out the bulb... much much easier also same with the map lights...just remove the round black covering (they just slightly snap on off)

EASIEST WAY:

for the sun visors where they snap to the roof closest to the sunroof pop open the little tab and unscrew the screw. Pull out the piece. Do the same on the other side. Your head liner will drop down.

There are 2 little metal tabs on the front corners of the dome light assembly (sorta in front of each map light). you can push them in with a screw driver and the whole thing comes right off. no need to take the headliner apart. it's really easy to miss the tabs though, it took me about 15 minutes of fiddling around with it until I realized where they were. after I found them, I had the whole dome light assembly dangling from the roof in about 30 seconds.

+2

I tried going through the sunroof but still didn't get enough room to reach inside and depress the prongs. After removing the visor holders I was able to reach the prongs directly from the front of the car (specifically, where the windshield meets the rearview mirror).

How i did it was wedging my fingers through the roof liner where it meets the front windshield. Once you get your fingers in there, there will be two metal tabs right where the map lights are, push REALLY hard and the whole dome light assembly should pop out.

I had to sit in the seats with my back facing the front windshield and seats all the way back in order to have enough room. Move the rear view mirror accordingly to make enough room for your hands on either side.

Hope this helps. I have an 08 E90 FWIW.

Once you unscrew the two pieces holding the sun visors and pull the roof liner down a little bit you can look up and see the two prongs. If not, you can just put your finger in there and feel them. Press around, you'll find it.

If you drop the head liner from the front as I suggested, there will be more room than you know what to do with.

For more room, pull down on the headliner

Also note the clips which needs to be depressed:

Installing the front dome LED's

Mike,

Success!! The approach to the front dome light assembly from the windshield side was EASY. Maybe there has been a small change in the design/construction of later model e90's (Mine is an '09.), because the approach from the sunroof side was just impossible. Anyway, I am very pleased with he new look and additional light. You have a great product. I would add that I appreciate that you are very responsive to your customers.

Best wishes,
-Rick
