Once its time for me to change tires, ill probably put on 18's. But 19's would be the largest ill go. So when that time comes, ill need some info hehe...

That's what I did with adding a lot of options in my e90... some people think it was an unwise decision & I could have gotten a 530i for less than what I paid for my E90... but in the end, I test drove both a bare 330i and a fully loaded 530i back-to-back, and it was no-contest in terms of road connection and response to driver input... I made my choice and am still happy with my decision... i don't see that changing at all. As long as you are happy, that's all that matters .

I have 18's already so If I were to go aftermarket I would look into some 19's. I would have never looked higher until I saw NaTuReBOY's 20's they look really good and don't have that big foot look at all.

I don't think his car looks trashy at all.....that's just me. You would think 20's would be too much, but just look at that vehicle! E-90's have a huge fenderwell/wheel arch.
I think it looks great, I'm going with 19's myself. |

While I have never been a huge fan of the twanky inch rim. The wheel wells on the E-90 are monsterous and the 20's dont look to bad, that being said chrome is not really my taste but I think Natureboy pulled off the look pretty damn well... I love the look of the 162's and I dont plan on changing them even though I love the CSL style rims! If anything I will do a little drop when I get my car just to kill the wheel gap, but I really dont want my car to be slammed or to bouncy...

I don't wanna bash Nature boy but it def. is a taste. Kinda like 90% really really like the stock 18inches but only a few would buy chrome 20's even if money was no object...some mods are just too racer boy for some. I prefer the stock look that's all....as long as it's the most sporty stock look you can get. I'm not really into after market mods that don't share a brain with the original manufacturer. That's why I am down with AMG.

Well, BMW themselves list 3 different sets of 19" wheel and tire sets for the E90 in their accessory line-up. So, that would be in line with "manufacturer thinking". They also offer wheels as large as 21" on their other models, all without affecting handling or ride according to their literature. It is truly all in what you prefer, but BMW offers lot's of personalization in their wheels. Thet even have a wheel catalog that is over 60 pages.

i donno about those 18" styling 162s on the 330i, but since i have the SP 325i, i love my 17" dbl spoke styling 161s. in fact, i even prefer styling 161 over 162 because of the looks of the wheels. however, it would be nice if bmw has 18" or 19" styling 162s as an option, because that would make the overall appearance even more attractive imo!

First Statement: Here I meant to say that some people think it's unwise to buy a 3 series that is more expensive than a 5 series while they have the same engine and the 5 has more space and comfort. In this instance, I meant to compare a loaded 330i to a base 530i. The price difference between a loaded 3 and a base 5 is small, but the argument was that the 3 costs more than the 5 in this particular case, no matter how small the difference. Second Statement: I compared a base 330i to a loaded 530i to illustrate the fact that even though the 530i was loaded and the 330i was not, I still preferred the base 330i.... I didn't mean to compare these on price. I just wanted to illustrate the fact that for my driving needs and style, the 330i suits me better than the 530i. An E46 M3 is what I really really want, but its price is beyond what I can afford at this point, and I wasn't keen on a second hand one. That's just me....

What are people's thoughts about ride quality relative to going bigger (i.e. going from 18" to 19" wheels)? Ride quality pertains to long distance road trips, city driving, etc. etc.
I imagine the bigger you go, the more prone you allow the wheels to be damaged as they are lower profile? It would suck to be able to bend wheels easily (or with faciliation when going bigger in size). I saw a 325 sport with its 17" wheels and a 330 sport with its 18"...the surprising thing was that both looked very similar in size. |
