2500 miles report of on my 335i coupe

So what happens at 2500 miles for everyone else?

Here's my current issue:
I have a "PUMA" case where my iDrive screen reports that both my front and rear brakes are worn out. Completely.

The brakes are not worn out as the dealer had reported.
They said "its not your sensors and its not your pads"

So they called Germany...
No clue yet on why this 335i coupe is reporting worn out brakes...

Other than that:

I've noticed a rattle in my X3 which has about 4000 miles on it.
I can't stand cars without Active Steering... it's terrible to drive when you get used to an Active Steering machine.

For those who don't know, I wrote a post detailing Active Steering and Paddle Shifters. I'm all for Active Steering and I'm never going back.

I've written this in a big rush... ignore any grammar errors.

Its likely the computer, not the brakes, that is screwy. Software issues are the darndest things to figure out.

I love iDrive but then again I use NAV constantly since I am in my car for work all the time.

After 1400 miles.. My car has has no issues. The only thing I don't like is its jerky in 1st gear when the motor is really cold, doesnt matter how slow you go.

What kind of gas mileage are you guys seeing after 1000 miles? I have AT and after ~ 600 miles this car is chewing gas. I know driving habits dictate mpg, and I have been a little heavier on the foot but my daily commute is 62 miles round trip, mostly highway. My 325i was getting 23.5mpg and the 335 is barely at 21. Just curious.

My 335i coupe has 1100 miles. I drive about 60 miles round trip a day to work-- Houston traffic.. average speed indicated about 35 mph. I am getting about 22.4 mgp for each tank .. I reset the displays and trip odometer each tank. When I use the trip computer I am getting 24 to 26 mgp just measuring my work driving and not around town.

I have had no problems (including seat belt arms) since I got mine! I love it. I am probably a little agressive on the gas.. how can you avoid it!

It's amazing the difference you can get in fuel economy by consiously driving like a granny.

My Nissan Titan gets, on average, 12-13mpg mixed driving with me driving "normally" (read: driving it like a car that weighs half as much). As an experiment, I maintained constant speeds on highway (no passing), eased it off the line (keeping RPM <2500), and overall drove conservatively.
Results: 16.7mpg mixed, which is HUGE for that truck. However, driving like that made my ulcer flare up, so I quit.

I'm sure with prudent application of the throttle and by driving the 335i like a Caddy instead of a Bimmer, you can get 26+mpg mixed no problem. But is it worth it?

Don't sweat it man. It losens up nicely at about 2500 miles. Just gets smoother and better.

just curious, why are you expecting better mileage out of the twin turbo 300hp 335i engine compared to your 325i? your also only at 600 miles, give it some time it should improve a bit later after break in.

your MPG doesn't depict any agressiveness -- its great that you are getting above 20...!

Not trying to hijack the thread, but had to chime in - this past weekend, on a 400-mile return trip from SoCal to Phoenix, I averaged 77.7 mph (including some time stuck in traffic on my way out of town - freeway speeds were frequently 85, 90, more) and got 30.1 mpg out of my 6MT 330i. That's freaking incredible! Even had the AC running some of the time.

The fastest I have averaged for a tank of gas is 41.7 mph. I got 24.0 mpg for that tank (computer reported 24.5 mph). I have yet to do a really long trip, long enough to get an average speed at highway speeds.

Here's more for ya of this e-famous Bimmer Chick :

and to answer the followup question that you're going to ask...yes, there are full nudes of her, but this thread isn't labeled NWS now is it...and you'll have to find those yourself . Shouldn't be too hard.

900 miles(1400kms) on it in 2 weeks now. No problems but what Iraxi already said, the gears/engine when cold are a bit bonkybonky, just like the E46 M3 was when cold. Car is much more quiet than the E90 330i I had.

Did some (burnout) 0-100mph and brake tests without the DSC/DTC on, on dry tarmac and it definitely needs a limited slip differential, which I'm going to order in january if everything is alright.

I've got almost 1400 miles. I agree, the 1st gear jerky thing is annoying. Other than that, no problems.
