TCU software update

Dealer had the car for two days and they can't get the repair done yet, WTH. It's takes that long for them to upload the software ? I called several times and they claim that they have an open case with BMW tech support to resolve the problem, is this normal ?

BTW they gave me a Camry as a loaner for the last two days, I want my E90 back so bad.

Any repairs on TCU require communication with HQ via centernet and or an open PuMA case, specific testing procedures all spelled out in instructions to dealer. They must go through these steps in order to be authorized to replace the TCU if it comes to that. reprogramming is realtively easy IF nothing goes wrong, but many things do. Must have all working modules or reprogramming cannot take place. Over 25 modules to be checked and be working plus other little bits and pieces. Even the upgrade station can hiccup and make them start all over.

sadly enough things do go wrong sometimes. I always prepare my customers that if there is programming, it could be a couple day adventure.

Service Info Bulletin 84 22-06

I just had my 325xi in for the one year oil chnage. My SA said that BMW has a recall for the TCU because of problems with the BMW Assist/Bluetooth. The TCU will be re-program or if the TCU can not be re-programmed, it will be replaced. Well of course, the TCU has to be replaced.

Does anyone have a copy of the SIB8422-06??? I would like to know what all is effected. I have discontinued the BMW Assist as I never used it.

Thanks

WallyF

Wrong SIB Number

The number that my SA gave me for the SIB number was for the E46 (3 series) and not the E90. I just got off the phone with BMW Customer Relations and they told me that the SIB # is 8423-06. Looks like they have to do something with the gas tank to replace the TCU as BMW fills up the gas tank.

See SIB list is at the following website:
