How would you spec out your M1/1M?

From some of the information that's been floating around, so far, I would spec it as follows...
DCT
18" Competition wheels (hopefully, this means forged)
Either Frozen Grey, Estoril Blue, or Leguna Seca Blue
Grey Interior
M colors on door panel
M colors on seats
carbon fiber dash trim

I wouldn't mind the M stripe on the exterior of the car but I don't like it being a whole stripe running the length of the car. I much rather prefer it to simply be like the checkered flag pattern in the M colors on a corner of the car, like on the hood or trunk.

It's a cool idea to have the carbon fiber hood, trunk, and side skirts but I've never really been a fan of it because it looks too much like the Fast and the Furious. Besides, I'm not sure I would like the side skirts to be carbon fiber as I can't quite picture this. Sounds a little wierd to me personally.

I am worried though that these options won't be coming to the US because of the fact that they're saying you can get any M color available. I thought I read in some other posts that any color that comes to the US must be crashed tested and I can't imagine BMW crash testing all of these colors for a very very low volume car. ...but here's to hoping it happens.

Tell me how you would spec your M1/1M.

The Competition wheels are cast, they are the same as the ones on the M3 Competition / GTS. But the Standard are forged. They are like M6 rims if not the same. I think,
Standard: Style 167 M (M6)
Optional: Style 359 M (M3 GTS)

My M1:
Alpine White or Ice White
M-Colors
Carbon
Alcantara
Competition 18"
6MT
Air/C
Haman/Kardon Soundsystem
Navi Professionnal (It is still not M1 CSL or M3 GTS. Even 911 GT3 RS has Navi.)

See my signature. Hopefully tri-color can be included with the Alcantara seats.

I haven't done anything yet. I will test drive a DCT car far in advance of placing my final order.

...and what's wrong with that?!

we can always dream but this kind of news is very exciting to see a car company actually allowing their customers to "customize" their cars with "extra" options. I guess, like the article said, they figure there's a huge aftermarket market out there and instead of allowing a 3rd party company get the $, why not keep it in-house. kudos for BMW for doing this.

I would love to hear those what exterior colors people would get their car with as there are so many M colors available currently and from the past but the new matte colors are also pretty nice.

Hard to say how I would spec it until I see some of these options in person. I'd really like to see the wheel choices and the M tri-color on the interior. Regarding colors, maybe Estoril blue or a darker blue. Frozen gray looks really good, but I would want to see it in person first. The M stripes could look good on the right color. The only way I can picture them are like the hash marks on the E36 M3 Lightweight.

OP, you believe Scott when he lists off those options but not when he calls it an M1 versus 1M?

My M1 would likely be some variation of white. 6MT and some alcantra bits.

I realize you haven't done anything yet.
Just trying to help... See if your SA will let you borrow a DCT equipped car over the weekend. IMO, a test drive won't be enough. I say this because it is really slick, but the appeal of flipping the paddles just wears off quickly. It's too automated, and many will miss being engaged with their car the way a manual offers.

Disclaimer: If BMW only offers it in DCT, I'll still probably get one.

...don't forget about running off banana peels in case you run out of plutonium and limited to only 87 miles per hour unless you want to cause a disturbance to the time continuum....

In the case of this car, less might actually be more.

I can agree that with a car like this, less (weight) will actually be better but when BMW is offering this chance (possibly for USA) to customize their cars to this level, it might be something that we all should consider at least adding 1 of the customizable options. Of course, to each their own.
