New Plates

Did you guys see one of the more recent issues of Roundel (~2 mths ago) where the older 325 had the plate, "BRAKEL8"? I thought that was pretty sweet.

Just ordered my new plates, "BRKE L8". Copy-cat? yeah. No originality? maybe. Love my new plates? Oh Yeah.

OK that makes sense.
I was never good at those license plate gussing games
Yes late braking - told to me by my track coach... not always but most of the time you want to. I was told late Apex and early Apex though... diff. term. same meaning

Somewhat off-topic but... About 5-6 years ago I saw an ML55 AMG running around with the plate "ML55 AMG". Around 2 years ago I saw the SAME plate but this time on a C32 AMG, what the heck happened there?

Brake Late. Which I was taught, is to carry your vehicle speed as far as you can prior to corner entry. Usually, if you're still braking into or during the middle of a turn, you're too late and likely upsetting the balance of the car (aka spinout as the front wheels are weighted and the rears are unweighted). Somewhere around 1/2 throttle is best in mid corner to keep all 4 wheels blanced and equal in grip - also depends on where the weight center is for the car (front or rear engine). This is why the 50/50 weight balance is so important and why BMW's handle so well! In case you didn't know....

You see this all the time in Indy/F1 racing where the cars brake at the last possible moment and the drivers really stand on the brakes. F1 drivers see 5G's when braking from top speed! You often see the white/blue smoke rise up when they hit the brakes too hard/late and lock up the wheels (flat spotting).

In racing, you want to competitively brake as late as you can so that the guy behind you doesn't slip by and take your spot. Think of it as just the opposite as accelerating early, getting off the line quickly or accelerating out of a corner as early as you can (right after the apex when your hands start to straighten the wheel). You want to BRKE L8 so you're not passed going into a turn just as you want to "ACCLR8" early so that you can get to the checkered flag 1st.

Life's a journey - enjoy the drive.

I saw a Georgia tag on a Trans Am today that I really liked:

"ID WIN"

Not a fan of the car, but great tag!

was it the same plate in the same province?

if it was, plates can also be sold and transferred from owner to owner.

Yeah, same general area. I have a feeling the guy had to downgrade! Couldn't afford the 10mpg or so...
