Possible Ways to Burn The Engine (E90)

I was talking with some of my friends today how really there is no way to burn or blow the engine in my 330 with step trany. Now i maybe wrong but i said that its not possible. Am I right or is there a way that i can possibly burn the engine.

Brick on the gas pedal and let it sit there for however long you can stand the sound of the engine banging off the rev limiter. I would imagine it would eventually (after quite some time) overheat with no air coming in and seize the engine. Make sure to take a video

If you are talking about over-revving, it's not possible with steptronic. Money shift is not going to happen and the engine cuts fuel when you reach red line.

But I wonder if you can overheat the engine by keeping it at the redline zone for an extended period.

"tried it.. the engine shifted me after holding the high rpm for about 2 minutes"

This is roughly equivelant to scraping your wife's $25,000 engagement band on the sidewalk to see if diamonds really are hard.

Why would you do this? If you succeed in blowing the engine you've proven that you can, in fact, blow an engine with an automatic transmission. Ok. So what's next after that?

It's probably not possible, I'm guessing the engine can work all day long anywhere upto the redline, and if the fuel supply is cut off when revved further, then it truly is just impossible. The only thing you can do is use the wheels to make the engine work harder - but you will need to remove a rev-limiter or force it with a dyno-style machine

Or you'll need 10 miles of straight, downhill road - just go flat out till you reach top speed/redline of gear 6, and let the slope force it to run further

Why you would want to even find out though, is beyond me

I had a kia rental car (auto) that got stuck in 2nd gear. We were running late to the airport and drove it for 25 miles redline 2nd gear the whole time. If a Kia can do redline for a good 30min then your bmw can take it no problem.

Place hose in fuel tank. Suck and place other end on engine, allow liquid to spill on engine. Light match and throw on engine........Run, watch the sparks fly. (I am running out of signs)

Seriously, what is the point here? Why are you trying to ruin a perfectly good BMW?
