Cold Weather Package or just Heated Seats

I just moved to Seattle, and have ordered a 335i with Heated Seats instead of the CWP. I figured I dont ski so the ski bag isnt a value to me.

The only other option with the CWP are the heated seats and the headlight squirters.

Question: are the squirters worth an extra $250 in a place where it just rains a lot (i.e. no snow?)

I would say just heated seats. No real need for the headlight squirters.

I'm having similar thoughts

But $250 is so insignificnant in the overall cost of the car, I believe that I will go for the CW package. Seeing that I am going to lease, I figure that it will increase the lease payment by only couple of dollars per month. BTW, we do get snow in my area. (SE PA)

I like the headlight washers in the winter.

For me, the difference in my monthly payment will be $5. But still, if I'm not going to get $5/month of value out of the car, I'd rather save the money.

But since I'm purchasing, I'm wondering if having CWP vs. just Heated Seats will help the resale?

Also, do the headlight squirters really do that much?

With or without snow in your area the headlights will still get dirty, especially when it rains. How often do you need to use the windshield washer? If your windshield is dirty, your headlights are dirty.

I believe the CWP also adds the split fold down seats. That comes in handy when you are trying to put something long in the trunk.

I purchased mine with the CWP. I dont think the headlight washer is worthit IMO. If i were to get another one, it will be just the heated seats.

It is in error on "Build your own". The main options listing shows it correctly. Fold down seats are standard on the coupe.

Do you think heated seats are worth $10 a month? The people at Bellevue BMW tried to talk me into getting them for resale value so I asked the used car manager there and he said it wouldnt make much of a difference maybe $100 - $200.

Welcome to Seattle! I just moved here from LA in April.

That is one thing that I did not pay attention to and ordered the whole thing.....But in reality I just wanted the heated seats..... I will not take this car skiing for sure and don't care about the ski bag at all....

The only time I've seen those headlight washers work is on my Volvo which actually has little wipers on the headlight...... Otherwise spraying water doesn't do much besides adding more mess IMO.....

If I were to do it again, I would just get the heated seats..... Most people will think your car has the "winter package" anyway.... since heated seats are what most people are looking for.....

I honestly don't like them on our X5 because the headlight washers eat too much windwasher fluid and hasn't been useful for me. I did not get them on my E90 and didn't miss out that much. I think heated seats is a must if you live in a colder climate so I would just opt for that.

Just heated seats. Then headlight washers make a mess.

but with just a squirter, it's not going to do much. Unless it's like on Volvos, where there's a squirter and a set of mini wiper. When your headlight cover is dirty, it's not going to do much by squirting windshield wiper fluid on it. Same as your windshield, when it's dirty, do you just squirt the fluid and leave it? no, you use the wiper to wipe the fluid off.

antidentite, I think the heated seats are enough.

I think 90% of people would be happy with just the heated seats. The fold down seats are nice for extra utility (without any loss to the rigidity to the car) which I have used multiple times. The minor cost for the headlight washers is worth it if you drive with a lot of snow and slush.

sorry, didn't see a former Volvo owner already posted the same point I made

and antidentite, the heated seats are definitely worth it in cold climate, they warm up REALLY fast, sometimes when the temperature is not that low, say around 3 to 8 degree Celsius, I just use the heated seat instead of the climate control to keep me warm and comfortable

I have the heated seats (no cold weather package) and I love them. I am a skier but prefer to put our skis on a rack.

I would pay money to have headlight washers deleted if I had to. Sedan owners on this forum have ordered heated fronts and fold down rears and opt out of the CWP just because of the headlight washers (messy).

Heated seats. Take the extra $250 and tint the windows- or take the wife to dinner for letting you buy the Bimmer.

Ah hell, who am I kidding- tint the windows.
