Replacing Glowplugs

Is this an easy job to do yourself?

Seems the blue puff on start is 2 glowplugs that have gone. Do you think it's a DIY job to replace them or a definite dealer job?

Fragile is a word I'd use, torque ratings are critical. Snapping them, on removal, is what concerns most.

Is this why you are down on power?

dodgy glowplugs would not affect power output, just make the car problematic to start especially when very cold.

Still got to sort your power problem out then.

Yeah this isn't the power problem.

Had the car in today and the diagnostics flagged nothing up apart from 2 glowplugs out so the power problem is still a mystery and i'm £60 worse off.

That sucks! I think its often the case that a dodgy MAF doesn't show as a fault.

I'm tempted just to live with it ... I wouldn't even notice if it wasn't for the remap! It's annoying to say the least.

He did say that if you don't turn off the DST when on a dyno that it will peak at 3500rpm. I presume either that isn't the case and if so that any tuning place would know that anyway.

I haven't no. I thought it was a pig to get to? Could I damage anything by running with it unplugged?

It just goes into a default setting. I had a dodgy MAF on my TT that showed no fault but when unplugged the cars power came back! It was easy to get to on the TT but I'm guessing it might be a pain on the 320d as it will be on the intake side of the airbox.
