I love washing my car. I'm looking to buy a house pretty soon and the house must have a nice roomy garage with a drain. I will also install a few space heaters just so I can wash/wax my cars in the winter. I will love that haha.

I've had my car less than two weeks, and I just washed it for the 4th or 5th time today. I find it very relaxing. I'm not looking forward to cold weather, though. I think I'll go stir crazy not being able to wash the car because it's too cold outside. ESPECIALLY if the car is dirty!

Is your job stressful? Mine can be, so I find washing the car helps me switch off. It can be therapeutic to have something to focus on that needs your undivided attention if you want to do it properly.

May be I just need a shrink though...

I find it relaxing to seal and wax my bimmer, especially looking at how it shines and how water beads on the paint. Ooooh...

do not wash your car in direct sunlight, the heat will dry the sud onto the paint surface and also dry water on the paint surface and create hard water spots.

You guys must not be married. My wife thinks I'm nuts to spent several hours washing/waxing/ Kassing on weekends. I got the hairy eyebal last weekend and all I was doing was a quick detail spray and cleaning the wheels. Maybe if I spent that much time on her minivan she wouldn't mind so much.

You know what they say, women are more jealous than men. Next time, when she go out shopings for several hours , give her the complementary hairy eyeball look.

thanks for the laugh...

it's always been a relaxing and "focusing" activity for me.
i'm pretty sure someone's written a self-help book on the meditative qualities of washing your car...

it's not that relaxing once you see the water bill sky rocketted for those of us who washes our cars almost every other day (not me ofcourse )

I hope your are not washing in direct sunlight, VERY bad for the paint. But I agree, I enjoy taking my time to wash and detail the car when the weather is nice and warm.

As for the wife complaining, I tell her at least she can see where I am at and what I am doing. As there are worse things I could be doing.

Any ways, I try to throw in a handwash and Klasse treatment on the wife's CR-V every 2-3 detailing sessions on my car.

Cheers,

Chuck

I hear lots of folks say it is relaxing. Somehow, I don't get the same feeling. I find it non relaxing. Washing a car is a very intimate process and it is during the washing process that I find scratches and rock chips that you can hardly see when car is dirty. So it has always been a very anxious process for me cuz I cannot waite to find a new rock chip or a new scratch. don't yall discovered these things during your wash session?

I understand what you're saying.. When I find a new scratch/rock chips, I'm depressed for the whole day.. or week, depending on how severe it is.

I am sure everyone is like that. That is why i say it is not as relaxing as it sounds.

Being a detail fanatic I haven't found much that I can't repair or buff out. I've done so many chip repairs and micromarring buff outs that I feel almost invincible with my circular buffer or touch up paint. I find it not as much relaxing as rewarding for the return of the shine and dressing applied.

I guess I'll fall into the "relaxing" camp!
