Reset tyre pressure sensor
Yesterday morning my car put on the tyre pressure warning in red. Thinking I had a puncture I drove home carefully. Checked all the pressures and there wasn't any punctures but the rears had a bit of difference in the pressures although only about 0.3 bar. Got them all back to same pressure and checked manual for resetting the sensors. It says to go through the menu to the tyre pressure symbol and hit Init. My menu has reset rather than init, I pushed the button on the end of the stalk for 5 secs or so, nothing really seemed to happen. Drove to work this morning about 7 miles of A roads, drove home again and still have the red warning light.
Any suggestions ?? |

You need to select reset/init and then drive off immediately. The tyre pressure sensor works by comparing the speeds of the wheels as a 'flat' tyre will spin at a different speed to the others.

Thanks for the reply but did select it before driving off this morning. Maybe the 10 min drive is not enough but the manual says it will continue after a break in a journey if necessary.

Let us know how you got on...this happened to me once and it did my nut in!! Pressure probably went down due to the cold. It takes < 5 secs to re-initialise! |

My reading says "reset" rather than init. tried pressing it a few times but still the red symbol is there, doing my nut in as you say.
Will try holding it tomorrow as I drive off. |

Yeh trick is to press it in once to select it, then press in again and HOLD as you move off. |

i had this yesterday after replacing wheels on mine, garage told me to go to the reset option, hold button for 15 secs, then press and hold again for around same time, a tick should appear to the right of reset if done correctly and you can drive off as normal.

No need to HOLD the button while driving off. Make sure you get the 'tick' showing, without that part set, it can't calibrate.

Find tyre monitor in the OBC menu scroll to reset Keep end of stalk pressed for 5 secs A tick appears beside reset Drive off and monitor will initialise on rotation of wheels If you stop initialisation resumes on moving again No feedback on completion Have used this on changing wheels and pressures many times no problem. |

Tried again this morning before leaving for work but didn't get to the tick stage. Then while parked at work i tried again, not sure really what I did different but got the tick altho the car was parked. According to the manual it should now continue operation when I leave for home tonight so we will see, hopefully that sorts it.

You will be sure it resets properly and calibrates the wheel speeds. HighlandPete |
