can a stock 335i do 400 hp with just a tune and maybe intake to the wheels? a buddy of mine is telling me that he saw a flashed 335i on a dyno do 400 wheel hp and it was stock.

i told him hes nuts thats not possible. can you guys confirm that this isnt possible?

also its a tuner named lenny who fully cracked the ecu on the 335i

more info: the reason why the car made so much was because he was able to change the torque sensor in the tranny, which apparently is holding the car back.

GIAC and LET are the common flash tuners around here. Perhaps they could give you a solid yes or no, but I'm pretty sure its unlikely with just a tune and intake on pump gas.

Well, my friend has just a PROcede and DCI, with a complete catless system, and ran 422 wheel torque (not 91 octane of course)
and this was when he was beta testing for shiv back in the day

ya my car has about 450 wheel torque n around 430 wheel hp, but mine is fully modded and your friend also has some mods.

this guy is telling me it was completely stock and it was 400 wheel hp from a flashed ecu

Ehhh... Doubt it.

No worries though. Some guy at a bar with a 330i set on getting a 135i was telling me how his buddies S1 dinan 135 is well over 400whp and ran 10's in the quarter. I just smiled, nodded, and told him to give me a ring when his s1 dinan hits 400whp.

most of us here would be pushing 460 whp if we could get out 400 whp on only tune and open filter only. Actually would be kinda nice, would have saved lots of money

Any dyno operator worth his salt could give you any numbers you want to see. I'm sure he could magic up 550hp if he wanted.

I'm sure it could if you turn the boost up high enough, why not? However I don't know of any consumer flashes that would do this, if this is custom I could see it being possible..

My friend got disappointed when he ran his MB on a mustang dyno, so the operator let him do another run and made it so he put down 1000whp.

It might be possible.
Dinan has a stage 2 tune ($2199 - dinan.com) and a free flow exhaust performance combo that will boost it up to 384 horsepower at 5700 rpm and 421 lb-ft torque at 4300 rpm. I don't know about RWHP, though.
Maybe if you add headers, a CAI, and free flow cats, it could be close to 400HP at the crank.

my car is over 400hp. this guy is completely STOCK with just a flash making the same power as my fully modded car. to me even if you tuned up the boost the stock intake and exhaust system are too restrictive for those gains.

btw 335i are turbo cars with downpipes not headers

I misread the original post.
A simple flash defintely can't gain that much HP. The Dinan stage 1 tune boosts the HP at the crank up to 366. That's probably as close to max as it can get.

Oh yeah! DUH!

This is my first ever turbo car.
I'm so used to naturally aspirated engines.

I also think your friend is a liar. You sure he said 400 to the whp? Maybe he's saying he's got 400 to the crank. Or maybe something was wrong with the dyno.

he told me 400 to the wheel. he said that a new system is coming out that tuned the 335i STOCK to 400 hp.

No way, you can make 400 at the crank with just a procede V4 Stage2 and DCI but not to the wheels.
