Lowering ... how far to go!?

Tempted to look at buying some Eibach springs. I don't want to have to drive like a chav in a corsa over speedbumps etc though.

- How low is too low? (any recommendations /photos kicking around?)
- How is fitting? doable myself or a garage job? If so how many hours in a garage do you think?

best look by far on an 320D SE is eibach sportsline with 50m drop at front and it think its 40 on rears.

u can get a set for about £150.

Rob mate you've caught the moddin bug! It's a bastard if it gets the better of u!

I would say that if u plan to drop it that much your gonna have to uprate the struts. Did u say your milege was about 60k in another post? It would be your call but you don't want to get it dropped for the struts to start giving you bother! Also depends on your driving style, have you considered coilovers?

Coilovers are fully adjustable shocks and springs mate. It can get more complex depending on what you require and the money you want to spend. The more money the more adjusting you can do. Ride height, how stiff, rebound rate, camber etc. You also get fixed rate coilovers that have a fixed stiffness and it's just the ride height you can alter. With coilovers made you really need to get them set up by a proffesional. If you read steviehoops thread on his m3 he has spent decent cash on bilsteins and correct setup. If there not right you car can bounce all over the camp and it's not clever. My advice would be an eibach shocks and springs kit. Choose your ride height, wheather it be 50/40mm and some stiffer shocks. Get them fitted and you don't have to worry about them again. Plenty of guys have changed the springs with the m sport suspension because the shocks are a bit stiffer but you would be best changing your shocks with the se suspension. I've had coilovers before and I was constantly adjusting and it got to be a pain. The benefits with them also is you can get the car lower with larger wheels. But I don't imagine you want the slammed look. Just a decent drop to give the car a more aggresive stance and tidy up the gaps in the arches. Hope this helps bud

Heating engineer mate. For a well known company

so if my laptop says I'm somewhere and my van ain't there it will flag up! There's always someone watchin mate.It's scary how accurate the gps is. I've seen my bosses laptop. It's starts as a map of the world, a few zooms and there's my van clear as day!

Do not go for "sportline" they were fitted to my car by mistake. The box said Eibach pro but it was the wrong springs in the box. The car was a disaster with these search the forums and you will see the results. I would say 50mm is not wise on a road car but the choice is yours.

Eibach Pro kit spings give the best ride height imo.

Matched up with Koni Yellow adjustables is a great combination, or Koni FSDs if you want a more compliant, but slightly less dynamic ride.

I think 40/50mm drop is very aggressive for a road car. I would have thought 30mm would be the most you would want to go.
