I need your opinions about retrofitting xLine

Hello everyone,

I've decided to retrofit xLine package to my car, I also want to further visualise the car with either chrome exterior trim or high gloss shadow-line. I already have the matt black roof rails. So I have 3 options in mind about roof rail/exterior trim combinations.

1st => Don't change the black rails, add chrome trim
2nd => Don't change the black rails, add shadow-line trim
3rd => Change rails with matt aluminium, add chrome trim

So it will be xLine plus 1st, 2nd or the 3rd option.

At the moment I don't want to spend more on rails. I'm thinking of xLine + shadow-line trim but will black material be OK with the silver xLine material at the bottom? I need your help at that point

I'm thinking to do something similar...

I didn't 100% like the x-line with a black car but I do lobe chrome finish around the windows... the plan is to add this later on.

How did you manage this... through BMW? What colour was your car? And how much did it cost relative to having it fitted when you purchased the car?

Well, if you want to see how it looks (black roof bars, shadow line, x-Line) that's exactly what I got in mine.

Personally, I like the look. Would have considered having the silver roof rails, but not really a big deal.
In you case, it's probably also the most economic solution.

But as always, this will always depend on your own personal preferences.

Hey Nash,

I still haven't done what I was thinking but I think I'll have the x-Line front/rear bumper parts and side skirts installed in 1 or 2 months. To give you an opinion about the prices: Bumper parts + side skirts~= 500 Euros authorized dealer, 2-3 weeks delivery. 400 Euros outside 1 and a half moth delivery. Similarly, chrome window trims are about 125-150 Euros (Price of all 6 pieces). The aluminum roof rail is 850 Euros at authorized dealer and I think the matt black ones are not cheaper than 600. And there will also be additional installation fees.

I won't change my black rails since it'll cost me 850 + my unused black rails. So, the lower x-Line parts and maybe the high gloss shadow-line trim.

Yes; or else I'd be stuck with chromed windows (it comes standard with the x23d in here) and I'm all for the "black look".
