Tyre Bulge

Hi,

I went over a pothole the other day and noticed a bulge on one of my front tyres. Does anyone know if this can be repaired or am I looking at a new tyre?

Current Tyre is Michelin Pilot Sport 245/35 ZR19 93Y

Also whats the difference between the Pilot Sport, Pilot Sport 2 and Pilot Sport Cup?

Thanks.

I believe it will have to be a new tire, unless you have some warranty protection on your tires.

Deffo new tyre mate, the wall is knackered once a bulge appears, no sense in risking it afterall its the only thing that connects you to the road

Your tire is living on borrowed time...

Get rid of it soon, or it may fail at the worst possible moment.

Pilot Sport = Outdated Michelin Summer performance street tire model (designed in the 1990's)

Pilot Sport PS2 = Current Michelin Summer Performance street tire model (designed in 2004)

Pilot Sport PS3 = New Michelin Summer performance street tire model (designed in 2009)

Pilot Sport Cup = Soft R-compound (D.O.T. street legal) track-ready performance tire model

Thanks for the replies.

Looking on the internet prices are around £300 for a new tyre.

I did get the Tyre Insurance when I bought the car ... will give them a ring.

it will do otherwise whats the point of it

If you are lucky you might be able to get the other side done if they are quite worn.

Called the Tyre insurance and its covered.
They use National Tyres and they don't have the tyre in stock but will order one in. Should be sorted tomorrow or Thursday.

Donbona ... I bought the tyre insurance from BMW when I got the car.
The insurance is with Axa. The cover is for 3 years with a maximum of 5 claims.

Cost of cover was £300 for 3 years ... not bad when one tyre costs £300!

The tyre insurance guys are going to love you

Do you know if this can be taken up retrospectively? I had a puncture on a month-old tyre which was a £350 kick in the teeth I didn't need.

Said tyre ( +/- 1,000 miles from new) and with a simple and, I believe, perfectly repariable puncture bang in the middle is now sat in my hallway getting in the way. I did have illusions of making a coffee table but now its annoying me. Open to offers.

Oh and re the PS2s, they seem to be in the process of being discontinued as they suddenly seem v rare - PS3s are meant to be coming online now I believe...

You can buy a tyre policy online but check the small print!

BTW, for E92 M3 they developed a tyre Michelin Sport Cup +. Its not the same tyre as Michelin Sport Cup and its more rain friendly. But still, if you are not planning to do track days, its probably a choice on extreme end.

Yes I am going for the PS2's ... if I can find someone with them in stock or available in a couple of days!
ATS called Michelin and they are not expecting to deliver any until early March?

Whats the average milleage people are getting on their tyres?
