Bonnet Catch
The nearside (passenger side) bonnet catch on my E91 will not engage in order to close the bonnet properly. The catch looks the same set up as on the drivers side and it moves freely, it will just not engage...hence the bonnet is not secure on one side. The dealer is unable to see it until next week and I have a few motorway trips before that. Anyone have any ideas or experienced this? Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Is the NS sliding release catch (the bit attached to the car, not the bonnet) moving OK? or is it stuck in the 'pulled' position?
Can you get someone to operate the release lever a few times in the car while you check that both mechanisms are moving? With all this bad weather and salt, it might just need a bit of WD40 and a poke with a screwdriver to get it moving... |

Thanks. I will get some one to operate the release and look at this, however the catch on the car does move okay as I have moved this back and formard a few times with my finger and it looks exactly the same as the drivers side. It did this once before but a good push down on the bonnet engaged it, but now it will not engage. It is annoying and worrying as I can see the bonnet "lifting" a bit at that side on the motorway!

335i is great thanks. Still haven't been able to properly thrash it due to the weather etc, but now that it's not as icy I have had a bit of a play. Amazing engine - diesel-like torque levels, but with all the fun (and revs) of petrol Don't know how to fix your bonnet catch I'm afraid, but I'd be tempted to drop into a dealers unannounced and ask for help so that I could 'drive home safely'. Can only be a 5 min job. |

Sounds like you need some lube.

All done - fixed. Amazing what a bit of lubrication does to help on a cold wet Friday night!
