e90 wheel offset question**
so i own a 2006 325xi and am thinking of putting some wheels on her this summer..im pretty much in love with the gunmetal vmr csl's and am looking for 19" staggered..i love the look of the wide rear tire as well as the concave look of the rear rim (guessing that's what the offset means) so i have two questions:
1. what is the widest i can make the tires in the back without having any problems or having to roll any fenders? and 2. what is the biggest offset (guessing this is what offset means) i can have? (ie, how "concave" can i make the rear rim) cause i love that look of it sinking into itself thanks for the help!

Concavity typically doesn't have anything to do with offset as far as I know. Either way, if you're looking for concavity, VMR makes a 19x10 rear which would probably give you the most concavity. You could probably run a 265 or even 275 tire without rubbing/rolling fenders as long as you don't drop. Once you drop, you'll probably have to roll..

I would think you could run a 9.5" rim with a 265 and a drop with no problems. 275 and a drop most likey = roll.

Optimal setup for this car is a 19x8.5 ET40 and 19x9.5 ET33 with 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 front and rear tires. This will be wide and flush with your fenders but not rub even on a lowered E90.

I went to the BMW Dealership and the told me going up "maximum" two sizes from the stock RIM is safe. I told them I want to buy 19" rims, but they responded 19" rims will cause my speedometer to not work correctly and show an incorrect speed when driving. They also mentioned if I buy staggered rims for the rear it could cause huge problems with my all wheel drive transmission in my car; however, for RWD vehicles that's no problem. The stock 16" rims are supposedly the same all around.
I have a 2006 325xi with stock 16" RIMS w/run flats. I would like to buy 19x8.5 ET40 and 19x9.5 ET33 with 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 front and rear tires, but I'm a little nervous about the problems that could come with it... any ideas? Also, is this statement from the BMW dealership true? |

But there are people in here running 19" staggered wheels on the xDrive e9x and it doesn't seem like there and problem, but you have to keep the front and rear tire size close in diameter.

You can run a 10" rear, tey offer 2 offsets for them, you should run the et38 19x10 to avoid rubbing issues and run a 265/30/19 tires on it. You can also run the 19x9.5 on the front of the car for maximum concavity with a 235/35/19 tire. the front wont rub and the rear should have enough space to clear if you are on stock XI height. a stiffer suspension will actually help the rubbing because the body doesn't travel as much.
Edit: Lol Charles, you type faster then me |

You just need to keep the overall rolling diameter within a 1% difference and there is no problem. Ive put 19" VB3's on a XI and hes had no problems with them at all running a 235/35 front and 265/30 rear (19x10 et38 rear)

Does anyone have any idea where I can buy 19x8.5 ET40 and 19x9.5 ET33? I looked online this morning and can't find anything. I like the deep concavity look and having a hard time finding anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
