Driving the F10 5 Series this week...
I've been invited to drive the new 5 Series this week in Europe as part of the North American press introduction. We'll be driving the 535i and 530d and will have access to several of BMW's engineers and marketing staff on the 5 Series.
Just curious if anyone here has any direct questions, photo requests, etc. regarding the new 5. They probably won't confirm anything on the M5, but I'll do my best.

Yes. I posted on your comment on the E90 board that I'd be interested in your impressions of the new 5er as a serious driver's car. BMW seems hell-bent on making each new model longer and heavier than the one it replaces and naturally the F10 is bigger than the E60. All of this seems counter-intuitive given the increasing MPG requirements, so please tell us what you think and how it compares to previous models.

Can you post some VIN's from these Testcars? I would like to know what special stuff they got on board.

Let me know when the estimated date of arrival for the 535i and the 535xi for the US market will be. Also, is the 535xi pricing going to be cheaper or same as the current car.

I'll double check, of course, but my understanding is they'll roll it out for New York in early April and it should be in dealers at roughly the same time. I'll confirm though.

Find out about a proposed 535is. That would be sweet and it looks like they're taking this mod package across the board. Will it happen to the 5er?

As for xDrive, all 5-series models will be available with xDrive starting in the fall of this year- 528i, 535i and 550i. There will also be a 550i manual with M-Sport package (rear-drive only).

When can I buy it?
My dealer mentioned the 535i intro will be pushed out to June or July. Anyone else know when we could pick up our new 5?
What would earliest be for Euro delivery? When is pricing expected to be out?

The sales manager of my local BMW Center said that the pricing will be out in the next two to three weeks.
Bryan@mwerks, what have you heard about when pricing will be released?

That sounds about right. Car will be shown at the New York Auto Show in early April, and pricing will be announced about a month in advance of that. So yeah, probably in the next three weeks.

What colour is that on your link? Is it a mock up? Seems too light for Space Grey and too metallic (sheet steel) titanium. Would choose that colour in an instant.
PS. I mean the first large picture not the ones at the bottom which are Space Grey. |
