Hot Centre Console by my left leg!

Is this just my 320D M Sport Auto or do all 320D E90s get a very hot centre console trim around the gear stick (auto selector) and ash tray?

I asked Elms BMW at Bedford and the Service Rep said this was normal. I am quite surprised as it gets VERY warm and almost uncomforably so.

If I turn the fan off, it goes back to a normal temperature.

Any thoughts?

Garage List
The heat goes through that area on it's way to the rear outlets so I'm not surprised.

I think they're is a recall on this issue...well not a full dealer recall but only of a customer complains about it they add more padding and insulation. Also if you turn off your rear vents it wont happen!

Thanks, I'll try the rear vent closure, as there is never anyone in the back.

Regards to all

Yeap, close rear vents or set the hot/cold mix to push out slightly warm air. I did this and worked fine.

I set to cold intitally and that meant the centre Alu was too cold!

you could put up with it but I didn't.

It is a fault with the spacers between the cowling on the center console and the heat ducting.

Warranty issue no questions asked by good dealer, US SIB was issued and you can find by searching thus forum.

Sound like your dealer can't be arsed.
