do scratches reappear after being buffed/polished?

Hey

I had my car "professionally" buffed / polished last week. I had asked them to use my zaino products but he advised his products would do wonders on my jet black car. I normally do the whole zaino treatment myself, however I have some scratches that I was hoping they could buff out. When I picked up the car, I was amazed that the scratches looked almost non-existant. I thought that this may have been because he buffed them out. Once they "buff" the car, shouldn't the scratches be barely seen? Would they reappear? We had some rain, and the scratches looked exactly how they did before the wax....I'm hoping that they didn't just use some polish formulated for black cars to conceal the scratches. What do you guys think?

I used Dr. Scratch on my SG car after I Zaino'd it, and then took it to the dealership for an oil change.

Of course they washed it with their Water Cannons, and the scratches are back, like the day before I buffed them etc....

It sounds like they used a glaze like 3M Imperial Hand Glaze which will hide the swirls and scratches until you wash the car or get it wet.

i just found it funny how he was downplaying zaino on black cars..i swore by it on my last car....i just wanted a "professional" to work my swirls out...i even told him ill give him the products and he just has to apply..he kept refusing to put anything abrasive on a year old black car...what do u guys think?

Agreed with this assessment. It sounds like the pro detailer used a glaze. Glazes will hide swirls temporarily until the rain washes it away.
