Sat Radio on 335 coupe...
Hi people,
I am about to order a 335i coupe and couldnt find any info on this. Is the new 335 coupe satellite radio ready? Is it prewired? Can i order it directly from the dealer? It's not an option on the bmw website and I would love to know... And how about real time traffic info? I will be getting the Navigation System. I am in Montreal... Thank you |

Not 100% sure about Canada-spec but US spec MY07 E90/91/92 are sat radio pre-wired with the factory install sat radio option available. Ditto for the RTTI....

Hi,
So i'm getting my car within the next 2 weeks and i had to revive this thread. I have yet gotten a definitive answer on whether Canadian E92's are actually prewired for satelite radio. My dealer service depart. doesn't know either... Does anyone know for sure if the E92 in Canada is actually prewired for Satelite Radio. Your answers would be greatly appreciated. Thankx |

as received
Dear Mr. XXXXXX, Thank you for your email. At this time, the anticipated release date for the hardware necessary for Sirius Satellite Radio is late fall 2007. A more specific date will be available closer to that time. Sincerely, BMW Group Canada |

The release of the hardware. It could still mean that the car would be prewired though. It's just that they haven't finalized things with Sirius Canada. |

well my dealer (laval) told me that sat pre wire was 150$, yet the e92 brochure on BMW.ca says it's prewired from the factory as standard, I guess the best way is to check for the wiring harness in the trunk when you get your car

in the PDF file it tells you where to locate the sat antenna connection and power (in the trunk), my guess is if it is wired for sat you will find these connectors, if it is not then you won't! |

I have it...
I have a 2007 e90 335i and it was prewired. I got the Sirius unit in the US ~$550 USD installation was another ~$400 at the dealer!!!
Programming is awesome, sound is phenomenal. It does have a glitch though. 5% of the time when I start my car, the screen asks me to call and aactivate although its already activated. All you have to do is pull out key and restart car, it goes away. Dealer does not know how to fix of course. I give it 8.5/10. The intire 1.5 missing is due to the glitch, otherwise I love it. Email me with any q';s. John |

Brutesky, do you have a subscription to Sirius US or Sirius Canada? Does where you purchase the Sirius unit determine which country you can subscribe to?

That is a lot of money for installing a radio that's pre-wired!!

All Canadian cars ARE pre-wired for sat radio.
Canadian Sirius radio modules ARE NOT available yet, Sirius Canada and BMW Canada did not agree on a deal yet. US Sirius radio modules ARE orderable from your local Canadian dealers, but they cost WAY MORE than the US price, it's CAD$1000 and change if you order the US module thru the Canadian dealer parts department, same part is around $500US or less if you buy it from the States. US modules WILL work in the Canadian cars, Canadian modules will also work in US cars despite what BMW Canada or Sirius Canada are saying. US modules WILL work with a Sirius Canada subsciption, reverse is also true. Sirius Canada has been spreading the rumor that US modules or radio units does not work in Canada simply because they do not get paid the royalty on the US parts, they only get paid the royalty from Canadian units sales. Sirius Canada and Sirius US are 2 different entities so the royalty payments from modules are not shared. The radio units and modules are EXACTLY the same and works the same way. My salesman already lost a $50 bet with me on my sirius module, we had a bet on my US sirius module. They insists both Sirius Canada AND BMW Canada assured them on seperate occasion that the US modules WILL NOT work in Canada, and my module will also fail to work. 5 minutes after I called Sirius Canada to add another radio to my subscription, I had them listen to Howard Stern. O, factory time for retrofitting the sat radio module is ONE hour. |
