Remap - Evolve or P-Torque

Hey.

I bought a TiAg 05plate 320d a couple of months ago and after reading everyone's recommendations to get it remapped, i've caved in..

Most people seem to be pushing Evolve, who are from their website offering +48 BHP +60nm (44lbs/ft) Torque for £495. Taking it to 211bhp and 295lbs/ft.

I've seen from the board that P-Torque have got a January sale on and are offering 205hp (up from 163) and 310lbs/ft torque (up from 251?).

Basically, are Evolve worth all the extra cash - especially as figures seem to suggest that P-Torque give a higher torque return. I realise that these figures are examples as each car is different etc. If the two are much the same then the extra cash can be put towards some other toys (thinking carbon/painted M-Tech spoiler, carbon wrap interior pieces, tints, retrofit multifunction buttons, m-sport front bumper, gloss black vinyl roof....) I've already got some 18" 162 wheels and a mat black grill fitted

I've heard several positive comments about Evolve, but does anyone have experience of P-Torque at all? I live in the midlands, so location isn't too crucial.

Also will either company offer any cover should anything go wrong..?

TIA

Your best bet is to speak to each company individually and ask these questions you have.

We actually get a bit more Torque out of that engine now. You can find dyno graphs on this thread.

Also forum price is £375 inc VAT.

Our warranty cover only covers cars that are within manufacturers original warranty period.

A forum member put down a very respectable 1/4 time with our tune too. Drag Time Slip

Thanks for all the replies.

Imran - one thing, that graph shows a dip in power on both maps at ~2250 rpm - just out of curiosity why does this occur?

Decision time I suppose, is the extra power worth paying the extra money..?

Has anyone noticed any improvement in performance from using more refined diesels? After a remap what's the next best mod for increased performance?

Its just the way the car loads up on the dyno. You wouldn't feel that on the road at all.

And it was cold and windy.

OP - The Evolve map on the 320D is awesome - I can't comment on the others.

Hi guys

We have mapped a 2.0d 163hp for racing in the Dunlop Maxx series. Its producing 325lbs/ft torque.

For everyday driving allowing for transmission restrictions we recommend 310lbs/ft torque

The car is dyno'd and road tested both before and after tuning.

A quick internet search will highlight our customer service quality too!

Feel free to call us on 01902 324584 if you would like to chat in more detail

Hi,

I had my 335i remapped by P-Torque yesterday. Had a similar dilemma as the OP choosing a company to do the work. I'm very pleased with the whole experience and I'll write a more detailed review later today.

Cheers

James

Talking

Right, well I had my 320d remap done this morning... I opted for P-Torque in the end due to the January offer and based on very positive comments from other members.

The service was excellent and quick, the car was dyno'd straight off whilst i went to the cafe for breakfast and then Will put the map on before dyno-ing it again. From the print out it looks as if the machine has calculated a 20% drivetrain loss, and pre-map it was putting out 153bhp and 245lb/ft torque. After the remap the print out is showing 198bhp and 304lb/ft.

MPG seems to have improved by a couple of mpg on the return trip and that was with a fair bit of booting it testing it out, although some of this could have been the long trip changing the average mpg more towards the end.

Performance wise, it is outstanding. It really has transformed the way the car drives. Previously i felt it was a car with some power when pushed, but nothing too crazy, now it has so much power on tap.. overtaking is easy, putting your foot down in 2nd 3rd and 4th pushes you back into the seat hard. I picked up a friend later and he asked about the remap, so to prove a point i then booted it in 2nd and then again 3rd. He's not a car person in the slightest but he was taken aback by the acceleration.

Honestly the best £245 i've spent on the car. It's now going to cost a bit more than that (£295?) out of the sale period, and it's definitely still worth it. I can't speak for the quality or service Evolve offer, but the product and service from P-Torque was excellent and they won me over on cost.

If anyone has any questions about it, feel free to ask on here or by PM and i'll give an honest answer.
