e90 330i personal profile and software update???

Hi, my e90 330i was built on Jun 2005, so I don't have personal profile setting available on the board. My dealer said if I bring the car, they can change the settings that I want and it will take only 30 minutes. So I gave them a car yesterday for setting, but after 30 minutes they said they have to software update or re-programming 8 things or something in order to change personal profile settings. But the ridiculous thing is that re-programming things won't be covered under warrenty. I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. I was like how it's possible this setting things are not covered under warrenty. That's wrong. They said they will check again to call BMWUSA or whatever I don't know.

Does anybody who has pre sep e90 330i has similar experiences? I will attach the paper that they gave me about re-programming things. Also they said pathway lightning and DRL settings are not even available for my vehicle. They said that's what computer said. So strange. I think they don't know anything about it. If you have same issue experience please share some information. I think software update or re-programming should be covered under warranty.

Also, if my car need to have more software updates, please give me informations of every updates that my car should have.

I thought all e90's built after 09/2005 had the Personal Profile settings available from the turn signal stalk. Maybe it is just North American and European vehicles? My e90 330i was built in 01/2006 and it has Personal Profiles.

I think the OP's build date was like 6/05, he typed it incorrectly, if you check his vehicle service report. That's why he doesn't have personal profiles.

oops

I typed wrong I meant Jun 2005 sorry. Anyone knows either these updates or re-programmings might be covered under warranty or not?

As far as I know in the US a software update is only covered under warranty if there was a specific problem it had to fix.

Seems you went from version 21 to 23

I can vouch for e90fleet. In the us, dealer will charge me if I want to update my car from CIP19 to CIP23 and for no reason just to have the latest software on my car. If I come into the dealer and complain that my radio is not working properly and the dealer discovered that the new CIP23 will fix my radio issue, then the software update is free because it was needed to fix my radio which is under warranty. I hope this example helps.

I had software updates done on my E90 under warranty and there should be no reason why they should charge you.

What is the personal profile and what does that do? I know I have a profile in mine and mne was a May 2005 build. I really wished BMW could just publish a software change control log and always list the latest versions so we are aware. It also really is upsetting that us that adopted early are unable to get some features that others seem to have. My TCU was recently replaced so maybe that gave me some of the items I was missing?

Its so that the driver can set things like DRL and auto locking without going to the dealer

The software updates are mostly to fix problems, not add features, so they are not listed publically.

They will keep adding features as they beome available to keep cars fresh. Ones requiring hardware changes, like the new US RTTI feature cannot be retrofitted.

The TCU just controls part of the telephone system, its a silver box in the trunk. It wont add any features
