Would you clean you car when it's this cold?

As the title says. It's 1 deg outside and my car is filthy and needs a bit of TLC.

Apart from the fact my hose pipe is frozen should i avoid washing the car when it's this cold

If your pipe is frozen you're going to struggle to wash it aren't you?

I'll be washing mine AGAIN either tomorrow or Sunday whatever the outside temperature. I just make sure the water in the bucket with the shampoo in it is warm rather than very warm or hot.

Once rinsed, remove the hosepipe gun and allow the water to drizzle over the whole car, this allows the water to run off the paintwork and reduces drying time and cold hands lol.

I wash the car around midday at this time of year, supposed to be the warmest part of the day.......hmmm!

I don't agree with these people who try and argue that the car is only going to get dirty again so what's the point. The point is by washing the car, you are removing all the grit and shite and avoiding a build up of contaminents and avoiding having to spend hours and hours to get the car looking anything like! Suppose it depends on much peeps actually like their cars.

Drive it after washing to get the car as dry as poss. Or you may find tomorrow the doors, door handles, brakes etc. have all frozen solid overnight.

Had this while it was snowing. Was forced to go outside and scrape snow carefully off the door handle and round the edges of the doors. Nightmare!

Think what it did to the paintwork.

Cleaned it last Saturday, despite the freezing cold conditions - it was too dirty, and the clear weather had to be capitalised upon! I jet it down first using the local jet wash though, made it a lot easier.

I guess in the warm of your driving seat you didn't notice the gritty sponge being massaged over your paint without regular rinsing. Nor the rubber squeegy pushing the grit further across the body. Then finally the shite imitation chamois grinding in the grit further for good measure. Ah the joys of immigrant hand car washes. At least the car looks clean especially as you've dressed the tyres to take your eye of the added paint swirls applied for the slim price of £5

I saw a new warning light the other day when it was icy. I tried to put my window down and computer said NO! *DING DING* Yellow flashing light with a window on it on my dashboard.

Nice of it to tell me!

Hi Matt,

I'm just down the road from you in Warwick and I clean mine every weekend even if its freezing cold. It's still worth it! Last weekend I did mine and the watm water was freezing on the car before I'd had time to jetwash it off! Happy days!

With every wipe it was getting cleaned mate in another bucket of water which was getting replaced every wipe aswell. Went through so much water.

Her paintwork is screwed anyway, looks like someone washed it with a brillo pad.

Great! Your mother used to tell you when not to go out in the cold and snow and now your car's doing the same thing.

I "usually" wash the car twice a weekat work but it hasn't been done since Xmas eve, it's snowing daily just now and TBH I really don't see the point of making the effort to go over to work, wash the car, and come home for it to be in exactly the same state when I get home

I'll wash it when I go back to work next week though

I washed mine today, went for a drive and took some moody pics.

Quite a good day.

Washed it just before Xmas too. don't like dirty cars, gives off bad vibes.

I've not washed my car at all yet.

This one is never going through the auto or jet wash, so it will have to wait for warmer weather.
