According to the latest announcement on official website and those recent radio broadcast, the new bridge (Route 8 Cheung Sha Wan to Tsing Yi section) should be opened on 20 Dec 2009, though there is no exact time mentioned. However, based on our last experience on their Shatin section, the road should be opened to public in the morning.

So... Our cruise this Sunday is a GO!!!

If you are interested to join, do visit the link above for RSVP. Further details of the meet will be PM in the coming days to those confirmed.

See u there!

Just checked the TD website. The bridge will be opened at 7am on Sunday.

LC,
If we start at 7am at the Science Park, we may not be the first one to be on TV.

Thanks!!! No worry, we will not be there "too late"... Also, not all reporters wake up early like us....hahahahahaha

The driving "simulation" clip for "Shatin to Airport" is the route we are going to take.

http://www.td.gov.hk/mini_site/tsingsha/index.html

There are 3 points to note:

1. In Shatin, keep on mid lane - Exit 1 for Kowloon West (left lane before Shain Town Plaza) to join route 8, otherwise right lane will go Shing Mun tunnel and left lane will route to Taiwai

2. On the bridge and inside Nam Wan tunnel, we have to avoid right lane as right lane only leads to Lantau/Airport direction

3. After Nam Wan tunnel, take Exit 3A to Yuen Long

Let's enjoy the cruise

Just wondering, I don't see any speed cameras on the stonecutters bridge despite those big speed camera signs. The ones I see are only the traffic monitoring cameras. Are those signs just empty warning or are there hidden cameras? I don't intend to speed, I am a safe driver. BUT, if I am in a hurry, knowing where the speed traps will be is a good idea.
